Spiegs belongs on a morning zoo type of show. "Good morning everybody!"

The more I hear him the more I think he is a younger Harry. He brings really nothing but my urge to change the channel. He is supposed to be a baseball savant ,yet I hear nothing of that except he likes the game. Big deal so do I but you need to be able to talk about it and be knowledgeable more than the guys calling in.

I have felt this from the start, but hearing them re-play a few more mock songs just has me over the top.

I seriously cannot stand Spiegel's "talk-singing" voice - i.e. sounds just like his talking voice, but with just the slightest bit of harmony.

I really do not respect "talk-singers" as a whole anyway - to me they all sound like "Dick Cheese".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvxCK7mP ... =1&index=1

Every time he sings, I just think of that dopey FeldCo Windows commercial (his jingle)

Thus, I do not consider him a "real" singer and I have very little respect for his pipes.

Ok, now let Doug give us the "Official Answer" on this. . .

I agree completely.

Spiegel sings like the Bill Murray SNL crooner Nick the lounge singer.
"Hey, you're beautiful, don't ever change"!

Thank you Panther for bringing this up. I was going to start a thread to see if anybody else noticed this. I thought it was a goof when he did the parody songs, but that's his real singing voice and I'm thinking..."This guy fronts a band?"

Doug I am not trying to start any shit with you but your PA singer sounds pretty "talky" as well.

Just listened to a bunch of your tunes and I am a fan of every other part of your outfit besides the crooner.

Just. . . not special enough. No vocal presence. . . at least in what I checked out.

AXL has presence, Anselmo has presence, Cornell has presence, Plant, S.Bach . . . seriously, even Justin Bieber has that sound that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and makes ya say "Damn, that kid's got some friggin' PIPES!"- that's presence.

Even successful "pseudo-talky" guys like Weiland, Vedder and Scott Stapp have an undeniable presence as well.

Your guy has none of that.

In pure "Spiegs-like Fashion", My uninvited $0.02 would be to "Mustaine/Pete Best" the singer so you guys can move up in the world.

I agree with this guy twice in 1 day?

Based on the Monster vid and the live Good Luck vid, all I can say is that I generally like some sort of melody when I listen to music.
But that's just me.

So this is going to be one of those split/multiple topic threads I can see.

1) Speigel has a great singing voice.

2) P.A. is a very good band, but I kind of know what Panther is saying (sorry Doug). There's just a different kind of mix with what you guys are playing musically, compared to what's being sung, IMO. Maybe it's just a new and different thing that people need to get used to. It's kind of heavy meets emo. If that's what you're going for, I suppose then it works. Just an honest critique here, Doug. Now feel free to rip the hell out of the SH&S.

I'm not sure what he is better...or worse at...singing or broadcasting.

well...ya know, some people prefer chocolate and others prefer 10" cocks bruising the backs of their throats.

nevertheless, thanks for listening to two songs. Justin Beiber appreciates this more than you know...
8)

i'll pass along the constructive criticism comparisons as it relates to the famous in quotes. I know Jerry will love it.

but what I really want to know is:
what does Douchebag think....

and yes, Jeff.
maybe people will get it 5 years from now.

don't be sorry...some prefer a different tea.
fwiw: i like mine with honey.

btw: this guy also thinks pantera cover bands are cool. so...yeah."
hehehe.
:P

a geoff tate type singer would make us QR...they already did that better than we ever could.

Jerry could cure cancer tomorrow- and that would be awesome.

But he can't sing.

There are no songs.

Good luck.

Meh. I watched Good Luck and Monster - That's it. I haven't heard the entire pA catalog.

"Singer" has cool tats and cusses too much & can't sing and tries too hard to sound too Mike Patton-y and 311-y.

But he's gonna be someone's dad, and Fearless Music Expert Doug plays a fuckin Squier.

:(

I'll bite - I haven't played (at least 10 times) @ METRO since 99 - but I played there, and Bottle, and Thurstons, and I would've played Lounge Ax right before it closed but my father died a week before the gig.

Good Luck will be a bumper in rotation on the Danny Mac Show starting today.

we don't have a manager.

i'd just ask that you listen to the double door mp3s if you want a decent idea of what we sounded like 5 months ago instead of late 2008.

your criticisms of our singer are valid points and I would be lying if I told you this has never come up before.
but, some people think thom yorke and billy corgan are whiny. I happen to really like them. to each his own...

Panther could write some lyrics about getting your wife to post here and favorite McDonald's Playplaces. If those aren't going to be rock anthems, I don't know what could be anymore.

Ok, now I have seen it all - you are comparing Croaky McFrogricks over there to Billy Corgan? Stop yo'seff, Dugg, PLEEEZE!

I listened to the double door show, too - these are just my ears talking, Doug.

You'd better bleep out the lyric in that song about being "baked" if they are going to play that on the radio.

Dude, you went from criticism to what the fuck in like two posts. You made your goddamn point. Ok we get it. Why you have to get to the point of being a dick about it? Chill the fuck out. You don't know all that this singer does. I heard his work in other bands that was CONSIDERABLY different from the style he sings in now. It was fucking great.
But enough of that. You've made your point. Enough dude.
