anyway, I LOVE Naf naf....the chicken breast plate w/ rice and salad as your sides is the way to go. The two sauces they give you (some kind of red hot sauce and I presume some kind of yogurt/mint sauce) are outstanding. good shit

Only had the chicken pita at Pitaville but naf naf is far better. Not a huge fan of their "fries" though- they're like soft potato chips. I'd stay away. I still need to try the beef tenderloin, every time I've been there I've had either chicken or falafel

Got distracted by the pool hall the first time we went down there for lunch, and never made it back to the office. Luckily, no one from upper management was in that day.

They are moving out relatively soon into the strip mall on Freedom Drive (the road that you exit on when you take I-88, the one with the Magianno's and the White Chocolate Grill and Jason's Deli.)

Pitaville is ok, but certainly not as good as Naf Naf. Pitaville does have a meat platter lunch special which I think is $8 and is a good value for your money if you like meat.

that was some damn fine beef
the white sauce is insanely good as are the pitas....not a huge fan of the red sauce(hot) but its ok
i don't think you can go wrong here

basically i agree with you

i'd stay away from the "chips"/"fries"...decent, not terrible, but not something I'd get again

I also thought the portions were small but by the time I finished my meal I was stuffed.

The beef is high quality, cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned

i agree it's a bit pricey but 15$ for a nice cut of tenderloin with some sides and bread....I don't think it's a bad deal. not something for every day, but worth it.

better do it soon, someone is going to sue them for getting a flat tire in that parking lot

Naf Naf update. Their last day at the current location will be Aug 28th. They will reopen in the new place after Labor Day weekend.

It is nicer... pretty plain looking -- the walls are totally white with some white decorations that go about halfway up. Ceiling is left unfinished. They have a menu board now and they redid their menu printout. Probably triple the amount of tables. They also give you a pager when you order that will vibrate and light up when it is time to pick up (works like Panera.) The corner where you pick up your food gets a little crowded due to people waiting, and the chairs/tables are a little too close to each other. Signage and everything makes it look more corporate and less mom-and-pop. Food is still delicious.

i like naf naf but i put them 3rd behind roti and cosi.

I've never been, I hear its solid but not as good as Pita Inn.

Speaking of which, Pita Inn just opened it new relocation on Dempster in the old Barnum and Bagel spot.

I prefer Naf Naf to Pita Inn, but it is hard to go wrong. I also like Pita House and Mina's and every other place that can make some mean ass kifta or shawarma with fresh tahini and pita.

Though I think Naf Naf truly has the best pita. The thing is like a cloud. An edible pillow.

Naf NAf isn't bad...but it's like the Chipotle of Middle Eastern food. Pita Inn and Pita House in Schaumburg are so much better...and their prices are better too.

I see the comparison when going to their 'fast service' locations.

But if you go to the full menu locations like Niles, Naperville, or Aurora, I believe you'll have a different opinion.

I've never seen anything but a fast service location...Lincolnshire and the new one in the Glenview/Northbrook/Wheeling corridor on Willow off the Tri-State.

Their pitas are fine. Their shwarma is average.

The Niles one isn't that far from you. Stop by when you have a chance.

You may not like the politics, but you would love the food in Israel. They treat shwarma the way Chicago treats hot dog/hamburger places. They are on every block, either full on restaurants, fast food options or even shwarma stands on the street. And for some reason, as good as it is here at some places, its so much better over there. I'm not a big fan of hummus, but over there I ate it at just about every meal cause it was so damn good.

Nothing cooler than walking around the old city in Jerusalem while munching on a pita stuffed with shwarma and all the fixings. Over there its more like the Naf Naf style (from what I heard) in that they put a lot of stuff in the pita like hummus and jerusalem salad as opposed to Pita Inn style which is just pita, meat and tahini.

One of the guys on our team, Darin, ate so much humus when we were over there that even to this day everyone just calls him D. Hummus.

I do enjoy Israeli cuisine, as I do most Middle Eastern cuisine.

At Naf, I usually get a shawarma basmati rice bowl, but I put the Arab / Israeli salad on there, some hummus, tahini, garlic sauce, and red cabbage. A couple falafel to boot. Pita on the side.
