Robby is self funded. Give him the money & equipment that sweet cheeks has & he runs fucking circles around her. Still, he has 4 times as many poles & twice the amount of victories as Danny.

Hasn't he also been racing about 20 years longer than Danny?

sarah fisher

76 starts
0 wins
1 pole

Very similar stats, but she has never really had a remotely decent car underneath her. She is also not hot. In IRL if you do not have top equipment you absolutely can not compete.

He didn't start out self-funded. He started out driving for someone.

And twice of 1 is the same as 1 more - fun with numbers. You are all over the place here. First you said anybody can finish in the top 6 once and then when presented with the fact that she has done so 27 times or almost 30% of the time, you start talking about wins.

This is just silly. If she was running in the Daytona 500, I would agree with you but I don't think running Nationwide Series races is "running with the big boys", it's just running. If she keeps running in the 30s, you'll get your wish and she'll disappear. If she gets better, she'll start running some Sprint Cup stuff.

Who, aside from John Kirk, cares how many poles a driver has "won" in their career? What does that get you? What does that count for?

Sarah Fisher has "similar" stats, but she's also been around for twice as long, usually without a ride.

Danica wasn't some random "hot chick" that an IRL owner plucked from a shopping mall or a beach somewhere. If that were the case, they could find a lot hotter. She grew up racing, on many different levels - that's all she has done. She worked her way up to IRL, just like many other drivers. John Kirk, I provided you with a list of many other drivers that have not performed in IRL, yet they still have a ride.

Now as far as NASCAR - that's where the money is these days. That's why drivers such as Stewart, Montoya, Gordon, Speed, Franchitti, Papis, Allmendinger, Hornish, J. Andretti, and more have all made the switch. For varying reasons. How many guys, from that list, "paid their dues" in ARCA/Trucks/etc. for a couple of years before they moved up? Why should Danica be any different? Because she's female? That's essentially all you got on this one, Kirk. Also, drivers like Hornish and Franchitti walked into pretty sweet rides. How much overwhelming success have they had? Why don't you constantly bitch about them? Because they're male.........

I'll bet your a regular on Godaddy.com.
Every race car driver "grew up racing. You can go to Rockford Speedway, Madison International Speedway, Grundy County Speedway...any small track...as I do, & most of the guys started as kids. It wasn't racing acumen that accounted for Danny getting a break, it was because she is female & hot. Danny is basically a diversity hire.
The attention to driving competency ratio for Danny compared to Hornish, Franchitti, & others isn't close. It's because she is female & hot. Danny is just another driver. When she rises above mediocrity let me know.
Speaking of hot, the hottest race car driver is Milka Duno. Good lord she is good looking.

The following are "diversity hires":

Juan Montoya (Colombian coffee sponsorship sure to follow)
Dario Franchitti (Hoping to draw in the huge Scottish racing contingency and UK hoops fans)
Max Papis (Viva Italia!)
Scott Speed (NASCAR was severely lacking in the straight-edge California slacker crowd)

Your post about "every driver grows up racing" supports what I'm saying about Danica, except she didn't "cut her teeth" at the Rockford Speedway, she went overseas.

You never answered my question:

Of all of those other drivers I listed, how many of them "paid their dues" in ARCA or some other lower stock car series before they started in a Cup car?

Danny certainly doesn't deserve to race with the big boys in Sprint Cup & I'm not sure that she should even be running the Nationwide series yet either.

danica has to be in a racecar to find nuts. seriously, this chick would be making $18 an hour as a secretary somewhere if she didnt act like she knew how to race. it makes me want to take my hot 17 year old cousin and put her in a UFC match.

Juan Pablo Montoya & Dario Franchitti are both great drivers. Papis & Speed are just a couple of guys.

Please dont compare Danny with JPM or Dario. Here are their stats:

Juan Pablo Montoya
330 Races
42 Poles
36 Wins
93 Top 5 finishes

Dario Franchitti
198 Races
24 Poles
24 Wins
85 Top 5 finishes

Here's Danny's record once again:

92 Races
3 Poles
1 Win
17 Top 5 finishes

We'll just have to agree to disagree on Danny's driving talent.

Those stats do say alot. Don't forget to add Hornish's stats in as well. Aside from that, I don't have a problem with her trying to give it a shot in Nascar. What I don't care for is that she gets gets damn near as much if not more coverage than jr. Hell, they even have a danica update on the ticker when she is racing. She absolutely does not deserve that, she deserves only the chance to race that her team and sponsors give her. In addition and relation to that, she also does not seem to be humble. She talks far more than she walks. That rubs alot of people the wrong way but she is hot and that rubs alot of people the right way and hence the ridiculous media attention she gets.

I am  at you comparing the driving ability of Franchiitti and Speed. Please don;t spit out your stats.

Any driver that gets to drive F1>than any driver who doesn't.

Scott Speed isn't exactly tearing it up in NASCAR, but he's already doing better than Franchittie ever did.

Besides, I wasn't exactly "comparing" those drivers with Danica. I asked you which one of those drivers I listed had to serve their time in ARCA like you are demanding Danica should do? I'm still waiting for your answer......

She is no more "cocky" than any other driver out there, in any series. Please don't tell me about how rude/cocky/insulting she is in her post race interviews. Aside from maybe Max Papis, which one of these Cup drivers isn't like that? There is not another sport in the world where the post-game interviews are as consistently interesting as NASCAR's are: blaming, name-calling, insulting, etc. The same is almost true for IRL, but I'm gonna assume most of you haven't seen many of Danica's post race IRL interviews.

The reaction to her interviews is as negative as it is because of one reason: she's female.

I have no problem at all with a female driving or giving an interview. Its her style and personality I don't like. I don't really care for kyle busch and his attitude at all. She reminds me alot of him. He however, is at the top of his profession and is competing for a win nearly every week. He gets the mic because he is polarizing and relevant to the battle for the win. She gets it because of the sideshow factor right now.

If nothing else, Danny may bring some "excitement" to one of the most boring race tracks in NASCAR, Chicagoland Soeedway.

Danny had a career best 24th place finish in the Chicago Nationwide race.

Her 2010 YTD Nationwide results:

Race 1. 35th
Race 2. 31st
Race 3. 36th
Race 4. 30th
Race 5. 24th

It's funny listening to other drivers who are asked questions about Danny, & they never comment on her driving skills. They always mention the attention that she has brought to racing. As long as she is generating interest in racing she will be around, but this wont last forever. Sooner or later her future will be dependent on her driving skills. If her driving skills don't improve. we'll see her in Playboy.

In another thread, you mentioned how you root for John Daly.

Isn't John Daly basically a fat alcoholic version of Danica Patrick? His play on the course has been pretty poor and he's only a story because of off the course stuff.

What makes you root for Daly but seemingly dislike Danica?

I don't see any similarities between Daly & Danny.
Daly earned his PGA tour card. Danny was handed a ride because she is hot. Dalys 390 foot drives made him popular, but you don't get a PGA card without a well rounded Golf game. God knows he didn't get his tour card because of his looks. I root for Daly because he is so different that the rest of the tour players...the wild pants, the care free grip it & rip it style. He's a throwback I guess & I like the guy. Danny is a whiny little Caller Bob.

You don't see a similarity because you don't want to.

He has one PGA tour win since 1995. He has one European tour win since then. He has one Asian tour win ever.

You are all over Danica for the fact that she only has one win but in about 15 years Daly has been pretty poor with many massive flame outs where he didn't look like he was ever going to come back. He's had to survive on automatic qualifications for winning things in the distant past and sponsor exemptions. Danica has at least done enough to qualify and stay in the Indy tour.

You can't talk about Danica's results if you are willing to completely ignore the train wreck that Daly has been. She's more deserving of a spot than him. She's at least a top 30 driver whereas Daly probably hasn't been ranked in the top 30 since the mid 90's.

I'm comparing Daly's attitude and off the field stuff to Danica's looks. If Daly had the personality of Justin Leonard he's not getting the same level of attention either.

If we take out the 90s, which is obviously barely relevant at this point, I would imagine that Danica's resume looks much better than John Daly's.

No offense, but it seems really creepy to have a post where you call a girl hot and then insist on calling her by a masculine version of her name. It comes off as really strange.

Daly is more of a freak show train wreck and he gets way way more pub than anyone else with similar career accomplishments because of that. DP a very average driver who gets way way too much pub for being hot and marketable. She at least has an upside, he is lightening in a bottle once every 10 years. While I don't care for DP as a driver at this time, I will dislike her as a villain at the track and podium but still respect her as a human being off of it. Some of this hate for her is getting too creepy and personal.

Good points Rick. Your post made me re-think this & I do see the similarity between Daly & Danny a far as both being underperformers who are big draws for their sport. If you go to a golf tournament, & I go to 1 or 2 each year, Dalys group has one of the largest galleries following him. Daly certainly hasn't done anything in the last 10 years, but he did earn his way into the PGA, Danny was handed a seat in an Indy Car because of her looks, not because of her racing resume. Maybe it is the character that is John Daly that causes me to root for the him, or maybe it's because Daly seems like a humble decent guy, at least when he isn't hammered. Danny never comes off very well in interviews & she appears cold & bitchy.

Now, watch Daly win this week & Danny next week!

What really pisses me off about Danica Patrick is two-fold. First, she's won only 1 race lifetime, and that was an IRL race in Japan of all places. Two, what really annoys me about Danica is the fact continues to be shoved down America's throat as nothing more than a sex object and that ESPN & ABC continue to hype her as if she's the next big thing in motorsports. A case in point were promos for last Friday's Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. DANICA'S NOT READY FOR NASCAR AND SHE KNOWS IT!!!
