I didn't realize this was a 4 game series until your post, Frank. With no off days unitl the ASB, they may want to call up a reliever until Peavy's turn (Sunday I think) and then swap that reliever for Hudson.

Ozzie says that Carlos Quentin is likely sitting out tomorrow's matinee as well, Keyser. CQ hurt that knee on that catch Monday night robbing Torii Hunter of extra bases. Let's also see if Brent Lillibridge can continue the hot hitting as the impromptu DH and if Gordon Beckham can hit the baseball again like he seemed to be doing on that road trip...

I know we are going to see Vizquel back in there at some point, but I have to say that I am impressed with the way Viciedo swings the bat. He hasn't had many hits to speak of, but he has good selection, and he is making good contact for the most part.

SJBoyd, when Mark Teahen comes off the disabled list from his broken index finger, Ozzie's got a decision to make concerning who could be the odd man out. Dayan Viciedo has looked pretty good since Omar Vizquel hurt his left kneecap Sunday night in Texas. Brent Lillibridge has been hitting the baseball the last few days starting for Gordon Beckham at second base, but Brent has made a couple of wild throws late in games and appears to be learning on the job. Last but not least, Andruw Jones has been scuffling since getting off to a hot start and had become a bit of a forgotten man until the Carlos Quentin injury to his knee Monday night on that incredible catch.

That being said, I've said it before and I'll say it until I'm blue in the face. Beckham's not going anywhere, in spite of the disappointing batting average and 51 K's he has at the plate this season. I think it's between Jones, Lillibridge & Viciedo. One of those three, barring a trade, will be packing their bags.

Agreed, and I think it will be Viciedo going back to Charlotte. He has options left, Jones is the only true outfielder as a backup, and Vizquel is veteran leadership.

The Twins lost so this would be a huge game to win and move into a tie for 2nd place and keep pace with the Tigers. Big Gamer has a serious lather worked up early so hopefully that means he got good and fucked up last night. He needs to go at least 6 tonight.

Wonderful game for Danks. Hats off to Ozzie for letting him finish what he started too. Now a little payback to those Royals for last week at KC.

Great performance by Danks today, and the bullpen gets a much needed day off.

these were two huge wins, especially with the news of peavy most likely lost for the year. its looking more and more like this team has staying power especially in this division. bullpen might be the best in all of baseball. one trade possibility, would the sox be interested in a ted lilly?

All I can say is, the Angels offense is brutal. Great series for the Sox though. Now they can't wet themselves against the Royals.

I think they miss Guerrero, IMO. Morales's injury hurt them as well. Methinks this is the year the Angel does NOT win the AL West.

BD, John Danks was outstanding this afternoon, but so was Ervin Santana, albeit in a losing effort. These two teams combined for just 5 hits this afternoon between them in what had to be the quickest 9-inning game in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball this season, only going 1 hour, 50 minutes. It was a well-pitched ballgame, and I was there in Section 103 to see it firsthand.

I think the Cubs would be open to talking about that, especially with the rumors floating around that the Ricketts would like to shed some salary for next year.

I wonder how much of the offensive ineffectiveness was due to the teams being gassed after 2 midnightish games in a row.

Other than Alfonso Soriano & Carlos Zambrano, whom you can't get a 24 pack of Miller High Life for, there are other Cubs that can be had right now.

For all those people who want to see 2B Gordon Beckham sent down to Triple "A" Charlotte, White Sox G.M. Kenny Williams should be on the damn phone right now with Cubs' G.M. Jim Hendry about acquiring one of the three second baseman they've got on that roster right now. Ryan Theriot, Mike Fontenot & Jeff Baker can be had, folks, if the price is right... If the Sox got one of those 3, only then would the Sox send Beckham down. Wishful thinking on my part? Probably...
