Alright, no smartass comments like Soldier Field. I'm looking for a place to watch the BEars game on Sunday in the city that will be very Bears heavy with few people even caring about the other NFL games from noon to three. Where's the place to be surrounded by loud, obnoxious Bears fans?

I don't think that'd be such a great place to watch this Sunday though...

Sorry. I think it just started getting old again. I've let it slide for about six months now, but I'm kind of done with it again.

it's a chicago thing ryan. You and I come from a different place. When I first moved here, I was taken aback by all the gay jokes and references on the Score. I don't pay attention to it and I've never gotten used to it either. Alot of guys in chicago refer to things as "gay" and think it's funny to infer others are gay this or gay that. I've heard the word gay used in Chicago and on Chicago sports radio more than in any other place I've ever lived...and that includes san francisco. There, we KNEW most guys were gay...so there was no reason to say anything or make jokes about it. I don't get it. hell...even the word itself is a joke on this website and the name has been changed to burrito. whatever. I guess you have to be a "chicago guy" to understand.

Coach, usually I go with multiple TVs and what not, but I want a place that will pretty much turn their heads away from the rest of the NFL from noon to 3 and was looking for the best place to watch Bears fans...kinda like at the zoo watching monkeys. Very entertaining. :D

Coast, I understand the gay jokes, but good dolphin has been running the same one for six months and i've been a good sport about it, but i was looking to maybe move on from it. guess that won't happen. oh well.

WR, I would recommend Fireplace Inn on Wells 2 blocks south of North Ave in Old Town. Hard Core bears bar and great ribs. I'll be the tall guy in the Orange Grossman jersey looking way hung over. Oh there will be 5 of us never mind.

You're right. It's completely exclusive to Chicago. I have never heard anything of the sort on NY/LA based TV shows.

Please do not confuse it with me saying it is acceptable but it certainly is prevalent.

"Gay" is a term that happens to be used quite a bit by people when explaining something is stupid or dumb, especially among high schoolers. I remember having to tell kids to stop throwing that word around at each other or about something quite a bit. Kind of an awkward thing to handle since you don't necessarily feel it's worthy of a trip to student services (though the old school teachers did). I remembered using that word for whatever reason myself like that at about that time. Eventually you grow out of it. It's kind of like how some people say something is retarded. Not really the most intelligent thing for someone to blurt out. But all in all, I have no beef with gd throwing that out there from time to time. I know the rest get a kick out of it.

Throwing it out from time to time? I pretty much use it only to describe your affinity for S and C and Mac's affinity for ballads.

I don't watch many TV shows (other than news, sports and food), so I won't debate your point that "G word" references are on TV. I just said I've never heard them so much in any place I've lived...and that includes LA. If it's not a regional thing, then maybe it's an age thing. Maybe younger people are more prone to use this word as a pejorative than older people. I don't know. I just know the people I hang with don't use that word to describe anything other than its proper meaning.

I did get a laugh out of the comment that although you use the "G word" references yourself, you are not judging the acceptability of doing so. I was reminded of Mike North's justification for his use of the N word.

We live in different worlds I guess. In my world, if the use of a word in a pejorative manner is not acceptable to you, then you don't use it. I'm not picking on you Dolphin; use of the "G" word as a pejorative is widespread here.

And B&B and their producer sidekick Drinky are poster boys for this behavior. On the one hand, they try to come off as politically correct and so righteous and all-knowing. On the other hand, they regularly play "G word" drops on the air. It's not just childish...it's pathetic. I wonder how funny people would think they were if they substituted the "G" word in their drops with drops of them using the "N" word, the "S" word or the "J" word. None of it is funny. It just reminds us what pathetic people they are.

I also regularly use words like f uck. I consider it bad form. I know it is vulgar. I am embarrassed about what type of example it might set for my children. Yet I still use it. I can list many other actions that I do on a regular basis that I aknowledge are unacceptable.

You may not watch much TV or movies but you would have to be absolutely oblivious if you think it is merely a regional thing...and I know you are not oblivious.

I added that sentence to my post because I did not want to get into the different discussion of whether is was proper to use the word.

Im with Coach Crap on this one, Nas. Go back to the old avatar. It had a much more mysterious quality to it. It corresponds to your uncanny prognosticating ability.
