Minnesota beat Detroit 6-3 and the Sox are pounding on KC 15-5 so far in the 7th. Looks like a .5 game lead and a 8 game winning streak going into the All-Star Break.

Just amazing considering where these guys were 6 weeks ago.

It is getting pretty exciting. I am looking forward to seeing what Kenny does before the deadline. I really thought this team was dead in the water a few weeks back, and I gotta give Keyser credit, I think he was the only Sox fan around here who was still on the bandwagon.

Hudson struggled today, but I'm not writing him off on bad game. I could see Kenny trying to add another starter to the mix or finding a left handed reliever for the 7th/8th innings to help Thornton. Offensively, I would be surprised to see the Sox have enough to add Adam Dunn or Lance Berkman, but do think they may go after a guy like Adam LaRoche. Ideally, I'd love somebody better, but are there any other left handed bats available?

It sure is nice to watch a game and expect to win every one. I remember '83 and this is just like it. These streaks dont come around too often. Looks like Ozzie ball is paying off for now. Just wish Peavy wasnt fucked up.

Yeah, dumbfuck, they have been winning because of Ozzie-ball. That's as long as Ozzie-ball means hitting the fucking ball out the ballpark so you can't make any goddamn mistakes...

Dumbfuck? Really? I deserve a lot of things but name calling for my opinion on MY baseball team I've watched since 74?

Really???? I'll talk baseball knowledge with you anytime smarty. Big talker! Back it up "DUMBFUCK".

Nice. Classy once again. So starting pitching, relief pitching and bunting and baserunning and fielding havnt improved?

Go watch your Cubbies. That team is painful to watch.

Another starting pitcher would be nice, with Peavy out. Not really sure who is available, though...

When Quentin hits Homeruns in more than 50% of his at bats, like he did this week, theyre gonna win a lot of games.

Over the last 30 games, the starting pitchers have an ERA under 2.50 (though, that may have changed slightly with Hudson yesterday. Either way, still under 2.75). The bullpen has also been pretty much lights out.

Couple with that dozens of 2 out hits, add in a few home runs and you've got the best team in baseball over the last month.

Its really been fun to watch.

Hey Dan Bernstein.....Mr. Stats and Probabilities.....I would guess if the Sox continue to play .800 ball, they will win the Division.
Now sit back with that calculator and blather on about two walks and the three run homer and the rest of the STATHEAD bullshit and let the rest of us watch the damned games.....
FUCK ALL THE STATHEAD POINDEXTERS!!!!

The only pitchers I see as fits right now are Ricky Nolasco and Ben Sheets. Haren (2.5yrs/$33M) and Oswalt (1.5yrs/$25.5M) are too expensive and Millwood, Guthrie, Westbrook, Myers and Lilly each have their issues.

Nolasco only makes 3.8M this season, is arbitration eligible next season and is a free agent after 2011. Sheets is an obvious injury risk but of the pitchers who are available (besides Haren and Oswalt) he has the most ability to be dominating down the stretch and in a playoff game.

I would like to see Kenny add a bat now and give Hudson another month to show what he can do. There should be some good pitchers clearing waivers in August once teams start falling out of contention.

I like Nolasco, but he's a fly ball pitcher who will give up the gopherball quite a bit. Not sure he's a good fit for the Sox.
