Everybody's been on the Bears run defense. To be 10th in the league isn't as bad as the perception. People are going to get some yards on the Bears. It won't be 3 and out every series. Points allowed is the key and the Bears take it away after giving up some yards. Or they just allow field goals.

It must be that relative to the rest of the Bears stats, run defense is just the most glaring "weakness" compared to the utter dominance in every other category. It was weird watching the Jets game in the first half because they seemed to be marching down the field constantly on us and then they'd just decide to shut the Jets down and make them punt. You won't hear any complaining from me though. This is a fun defense to watch. Now lets get Tommie Harris back to early season form.

Yeah the Bears defense is focused on stopping long passing plays. They will always be vulnerable against the run. Now they can tackle better at times but they make teams go 10-12 plays against them. Then they get a turnover.

That QB Rating one is quite impressive. I never knew it was so low.

especially when in some of those games, when a lot of those rush yards by the opponents were had, the game was already well in hand.

Amazing when you factor in Grossman's bad games.

Would like to see the sacks rise up a little.

I love the TO differential, esp after removing the 2 bad games. This was brought up earlier this year but I think they are focusing on stripping the ball on runs too much. Ball hawking is sexy in practice but on sundays it leads to way too many missed tackles. Stick to tackling unless you are 2nd or 3rd in on a scrum.

Nas, agreed, but how many from an initial strip, I remember the classic Urlacher strip on E James but again he was 3rd in on the scrum, just focus on the initial tackle, no need to be a hero in the open field

This is exactly it: they employ the 'bend but don't break,' and shut down the big plays, which inevitably sets them up to give up some rushing stats. Nonetheless, the other categories speak for themselves.
