This looks awesome. Rarely do I get excited about a new movie these days, but this is a notable exception.

Kinda reminds me of the concept of Dreamscape. But no lizardman I guess.

Really the only movie I may go see in the theater this summer. I thought
Memento was a crazy idea and it ended up being done well. This may turn
out the same way. Looks like a visual feast for the eyes.

Mememento is one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie looks like it could be great too. I can't wait.

Completely jacked for this one too. Christopher Nolan has earned my trust and dollars now for a solid movie. In his short career, he has directed Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight. That is a pretty awesome resume, and there's not one film that I don't think could be called "bad" (whether you enjoyed it or not is a different story).

YOUR MIND IS THE SCENE OF CRIME.
FUCK YEAH.

Just going to warn those who are getting psyched...remember this is a big Hollywood studio release. While I trust Nolan to give us a good film because he's a good filmmaker, he is still subject to A) buying too much into his own hype and making a subpar film and/or B) the studio destroying what his projected vision was for the film.

I'm being purposely negative because I'd rather go in with low expectations. Right now my level of expectation is one of dubiousness.

I'm still kind of surprised that this script was bought on spec.

I gotta believe Nolan walks on water over at WB. There's very little chance they would piss the guy off prior to him getting the next Batman and Superman films up an running. They have waaaay too much at stake to meddle.

Just got done seein the movie and it was damn good. This is Memento style Nolan here. I think my movie experience would have been better had I not gotten food poisoning from the Jerusalem Cafe next to the theater. During the movie I had to run to the washroom and puke my guts out and I'm still MJeff green.

very good movie.... leaves you wondering if the whole thing is a dream or parts are reality. The director leaves it up to the viewer to decide what their interpretation of the ending is. I loved the matrix style effects in the film where the they floating and fighting.

I was pretty floored by this movie...REALLY, REALLY enjoyed it. The fastest 2 and half hour movie I can remember watching. Can definitely see how this movie is polarizing....fairly complex and perhaps too ambitious for the general moviegoer. Personally, I can't remember a more original, intense, immense film than this in a long time. Every decade or so a movie comes along that breaks some barriers (the last maybe being The Matrix), and I think Inception is just that movie. I personally loved the multiple and simultaneous storylines.

I've heard Nolan developed this film for 9 years, and it shows. Some of best visuals you are going to see. The hotel fight scene was jaw-dropping. I would love to see how that was filmed.

I'm a sucker for movies that purposely invoke debate and leave room for interpretation. This movie demands it. I've already had lengthy discussions with others regarding the reality/dreams/plot/purpose/intentions and I can't wait to see this again.

My only complaint: for me, it did lack a little emotion and character development. I know that it was Cobb's movie, and Nolan spends so much time hinting and building at his background arc. I would have loved to know more about Arthur and Ames (Eames?).

9 out of 10

I hope IB gets to see this...

Because I didn't really care for this movie.

I have been a big fan of Nolan for years, and I think that the idea of creating a "dream machine" is too absurd to make this a "Was this a dream or reality"? movie. To ask yourself at the end, was it a dream or reality--is asking the wrong question. What was the point of it? If you strip this movie down, it's a simple story about guilt and salvation, only we don't get to see the...ahem...INCEPTION...of where the relationship *began*. So...that leads me to think...this was a dream created by Dom (DiCaprio) because that's the only way this movie could work at all. Dream-stealing is an interesting concept. I think it's even possible to maybe "architect" a dream--but to share everything means everyone must be traveling on a direct line together. When things start to fall apart, they should be falling apart in other elements of the dream world, which doesn't seem to happen.

The movie is too neat, without enough stakes raised to make it compelling drama. We get a notion very early on that this will have a lot to do with DiCaprio trying to get over the guilt of what happened to his wife.

While the film creates its own logic and lives in it credibly (in that, no one is winking at the camera)--I think it takes itself too seriously. This is kind of a ridiculous idea. And I have many, many vivid dreams that I couldn't even begin to describe (except that one I had with Mike & Mike).

For a movie that is so convoluted and complex, when you break it down it's quite obvious and even silly. There are some really nice looking shots, and some extremely well executed action sequences (the hotel room scuffle, to me, surpassed "The Matrix" in utter badassery).

But the movie seems to be devoid of a soul that I think it needed in order to be believable. Whether it was a dream or not...I mean, I guess I could believe a reality like that? But it was so neatly put together, it just didn't make an impact on me.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D

PS - I love what New York Magazine's David Edelstein wrote in his review - "I truly have no idea what so many people are raving about. It’s as if someone went into their heads while they were sleeping and planted the idea that Inception is a visionary masterpiece and—hold on … Whoa! I think I get it. The movie is a metaphor for the power of delusional hype—a metaphor for itself"

Bravo!

I liked the movie, but didn't care for the open ending. Maybe I'm just to simple, but with all the different levels, I would have liked a more solid finish.

I saw a short 'making of' on HBO and a lot of the scenes were done with as little CGI as they could. For example, the hallway scene was an actual "tube" that they could rotate around to film pieces. The scene where the 2 are sitting at the cafe used "explosives" powered with compressed air so most of the stuff that was flying around was actually there as they were sitting there.

i think you will; visually it is very stunning and it is actually overall an enjoyable experience. it just left me feeling underwhelmed as far as a film goes. if that makes sense.

I read that in the newest issue and it kind of surprised me, because I thought the previews looked great and there has been pretty much great reviews from the ones I've seen.

Now I really want to see it.

All the coolest effects you saw in the previews already. This adds about 3 hours of shit sandwiched amongst the effects.

The movie was marginal at best.

It also bugs me that once again Dicaprio is in a mind fuck movie about the death of his wife and he has two kids. Shake up it Leo!

I thought Memento was overrated too. Indie film lovers loved it, but in the broad sense, it was a gimmicky flick.

Mrs. Grid wanted to leave halfway through it, so I told her - YOU wanted to see this movie (even though I did too).... I told her there'll be a payoff in the end.

Ya, there was.... the non-ending.

The British dude not ever getting shot or hurt was totally ridiculous. Just a f'n stupid movie. Hell, I enjoyed Tom Cruise's movie more.

most of the movie was totally ridiculous.

IDK, i really liked "memento". it was gimmicky but it worked on its own level. i don't think "inception" does.

"following" was better than "memento" i thought. and "the prestige" really was...a magic trick and that was it.

nolan wants to be kubrick. the thing that made kubrick great was that he was kubrick. there was no wannabe in him.

W_Z and others are right on. I saw this drug induced screen play today at the Barrington IMAX for only 10 bucks. Not a bad deal,(BUT I was there for the 9am showing hence the cheap price). What got me about this movie,if the dreams are so "awesome" where are the flying elephants, trips to outerspace in an instant, invisible policemen or any other bizarre shit a human mind can dream of. Basically, the dreams were all pretty well grounded in reality. You want to make a movie about dreams,go hog wild! I considered getting up and leaving but stayed for the whole sordid mess! It Sucked major shit! That's what happens when studios leave a director alone in a room with his "vision". Nolan is noted for his realism in movies. Worked for Batman to a degree, but a movie about dreams should have been given to someone with an imagination!!! The movie brought in 60mil this weekend. I would be shocked if it makes a 3rd of that next weekend as word of mouth gets out. Nolan,it's summertime smartguy, keep it simple, stupid!

Other than here, I've not talked to/heard of a single person who didn't absolutely love this movie.

I loved it. Two and a half hours very well spent.
