White Sox "Trying To Accelerate" Talks For Fielder

The White Sox are "trying to accelerate" talks with the Brewers for Prince Fielder, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Unsurprisingly, Rosenthal says the problem is that the Brewers view Daniel Hudson as only a No. 3 or 4 type. Yesterday ESPN's Buster Olney wrote that the Brewers' "clear preference will be for young power pitching."

Just yesterday, Rosenthal tweeted that the Sox were not on Fielder due to financial concerns and the difficulty matching up. The market for Fielder appears to be picking up, as evidenced by Rosenthal's tweet today that the first baseman is generating more calls than Corey Hart. I really don't want Fielder, especially giving up Hudson. If he DHs here, he'll weigh 4 bills by October.

Dude can HIT though. You want him. Hell he's really not that bad a 1st baseman actually, he's much more atletic than you're lead to believe looking at him.

Doesn't Kenny know who Prince Fielder's agent is? It's Scott Bora$, whom Uncle Jerry hasn't exactly been on the best of terms in recent years, and wants at least $125 million when the big, fat Brewer tests the free agent market this offseason!

He's under control next season too. And if you think his bat really gives you a legit shot at a World Series, you've got to make the deal even if it means moving Beckham and Santos. We only win one about every 88 years around here.

This Prince Fielder talk is making me nervous, just a bit.

Overweight, out of shape, having a sub par season (last I checked), Scott Boras and, of course, wants a Huge Payday.

The pessimist in me says he gets paid, gets fatter, gets injured and fucking blows.

Who in the white sox organization, majors and minors, will ever be better than Fielder?

Really?? Let's assume for the moment that Fielder gets a long term deal that Kenny can live with, stays healthy, performs to his career averages, and doesn't eat Chicago. What is it about Beckham that you Beckham lovers don't want to part with? Or is it concern about Fielder (or Dunn for that matter) that's stopping you?

You Beckham lovers? Why does every team the Sox try to trade with demand Beckham? San Diego, Seattle, Washington and Milwaukee. Are they all stupid? Or are you're just an idiot meatball?

I didn't mean it as a derogatory comment, just trying to understand what people see in Beckham that would justify wanting him over Fielder or Dunn. Small market teams generally want to divest of players that will expect big contracts and get prospects that they can control for the forseeable future. That, I think is their motivation for wanting Beckham, who will be a good middle infielder but not a major star, IMO. That's all. I don't think that deserved the "idiot meatball" tag.
