I guess shock the world means different things to different people, but Dunn and Meyers don't shock things in my world.

I'm kinda on the fence with Brett Myers. He is a bit of a nut case and I just don't know how that will affect this clubhouse.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that's a shock the world move ... but it's a damn good trade for the White Sox.

Brett Myers has been awfully good this season (8-6, 3.10/1.2WHIP on a bad Houston team) ... although if I remember correctly, he's an asswipe.

Didn't he punch out his wife in public a few years ago?

Are the Tigers selling?

He loves him some Miggy Cabrera.

I would run down the street Butt-Nekkid if KW got Miggy but I think the Tigers still feel that they are still in contention for the division and so they are still buyers.

Tigers are well poised for the near future, have a lot of money coming off the books at the end of the year and understand Cabrera is the centerpiece of a Jackson, Boesch etc. youth movement. He is going nowhere.

Myers can beat you in a lot of ways. Pisla's wife would have an instant friend.

Count me in if the trade is Berkman and Myers. That's back to the type of rotation where you can expect to win every night.

So does this mean Kenny was unable to shock the world?

The D'Backs announced they've traded Jackson to the White Sox for Hudson and pitching prospect David Holmberg.

I find it hard to believe you can shock the world if you just traded your top pitching prospect. Who is he going to give up? Beckham?

Likely so they can get Adam Dunn. The Nationals wanted Jackson. This won't be the only move.

Would it be a straight up deal for Dunn or would it be Jackson + some prospect for Dunn?

I highly doubt this would be a one-for-one deal. This would to be a package deal of some sort. If I were the Nationals I wouldn't be giving away Dunn for Jackson. It would take more.

On another note, it appears Berkman is potentially available. He has injury issues in the past, but wouldn't Berkman be just as good a fit at DH as Dunn would?

I am not liking the way this is shaping up. I will reserve full comment until when the smoke has cleared.

I can't imagine they're moving Floyd for Dunn. Supposedly the could have had Dunn for Hudson and Morel or Flowers. Maybe there's a bigger deal in play here. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to seeing Floyd go, just not for two months of Dunn. This is so stupid anyway. They could have had Thome for nothing. Instead he's on the team they're trying to beat and the Sox are giving away guys to try and replace him.

They are the same guy, and if you prorate Thome's numbers to match Dunn's this year, they really are the same except for Thome walking more. That said, I don't know that Thome could play the full time schedule that Dunn would given the fact that he is almost 10 years older, and has a history of the hinky back. The only way I would make a Floyd for Dunn deal is if you know that you are going to get an extension out of Dunn, otherwise it is too much of a price to pay for a rent a player.
