Without any injuries they'll be under .500.

the thing with these predictions is that you're predicating all of this on last year's teams. this is this year's teams. and it's very rare that teams (especially "surprise teams") repeat their performance from a year ago.

i think the jets will be a worse team this year, like the dolphins after they went 11-5. they'll come back down to earth. sanchez will take a step back.

the vikings won't be as great as people think they will.

the bears have a very good chance of going 10-6 as much as they do going 7-9. the NFL is manic depressive. it's bi-polar. one year you have the fucking NY Jets going to the AFC Championship and the Saints winning the Super Bowl--and the next...you could have the damn Bengals in the Super Bowl playing against...the Falcons.

That's true, but normally you see these massive swings because of young players getting better. The Bears are getting old fast, if they aren't already there and they really haven't done much to change that with all the draft picks they've missed the past two years in the important rounds.

Obviously anything can happen but at least from what I see in the NFL most of the teams that have major turnarounds do it with previously unknown younger players becoming important.

The other thing that could happen is that Jay Cutler could finally turn into a top 5 NFL QB, which he has the potential to do but never has, and the Bears would be good. It's too early to talk about that topic though.

i guess it depends too on whether you consider the NFC north a favorable division for the bears. is it still a winnable division like bears fans have made arguments for in the past? this division is so bad...etc. i hear a lot more around here about how good the vikings are and the packers are up/down but when they're up they're high up. the lions COULD be one of those sneaky teams this year.

i think the NFC north is a lot more challenging this year. but because the bears are going to look so different on offense it's tough to gauge whether it will be a good thing or bad thing yet. the preseason may actually be fun to watch. or...could be painful.

W_Z, I know you're a pretty smart guy - but you're dead wrong - we're basing it on THIS year's teams. That's why we make predictions for the 2010 season.

...this coming from a guy who never believed in his Saints last year.... sheesh...

How about a signature bet Kirk?

If the Bears go over .500 I get to pick your signature for a month?

If the Bears go under .500 you get to pick my signature for a month?

If they finish 8-8 then we call it a draw.

What do you predict the Bears record will be?

I say 9-7.

Now how about an answer to the signature bet offer?

With that rationale, what's the point of putting an opinion on here then Zach?

I based my opinion on their record and off-season transactions and/or draft picks of the Bears and their competition. What the hell else are you supposed to base it on. Of course they're not playing the same teams as last year.

Betting a signature is kinda silly because you'll just end up using a Mult to post for the Month.
Real Men bet money. How about $100?

How about $100? Or what about this? If I win then you must stop your silly obsession with my name.

What fun is sports without predictions? Hell, you just made a bunch of predictions yourself.
