I jumped in my car this morning for my typical 45 minute commute. I usually give North the first shot on my radio and I'll listen if he is talking sports. So, Mike and Annie are talking about what a woman feels like when she's 50 or some sh!t. Then they go to the promo of Mike North saying that he GUARANTEES they talk more Bears (or Chicago sports, I don't remember) than anyone. So, I thought I would test it out.

On ESPN, Mike & Mike gave me a full 12 minutes segment or so on Ben Wallace (ugh, still?, but at least Chicago sports) and then another full segment with DA COACH talking Bears, some Giants and then his thoughts on the 85 Bears and the Ben Wallace situation. So, a full 30 minutes or so of almost entirely Chicago sports talk.

As I flipped back to North during this time (I didn't want to too much since I was enjoying the sports talk), I got Fred talking about how his parents slapped him with a belt or something, Mike giving kudos to some chick at People's gas, and some other non-sports topic I don't recall. This wasn't some 5 minute span, this was over 45 MINUTES. No Chicago sports, no sports at all.

Come on, North. The Bulls did play last night, the Illini were on national TV, hell, even Griese/Grossman talk would be acceptable, or, God forbid, you'd come up with some original topic that would make me think about something I hadn't.

The guy could get ratings. I would listen to him every day over Mike & Mike if the man would just talk some sports, forget the other crap. But, ESPN got 45 minutes of my attention this morning. So much for his guarantee.

I rescind my complaint. If he followed my advice we wouldn't be getting this scintillating interview with Marilyn McCoo about the Solid Gold years.

Now if he could only get Rex Smith, Rick Dees, Andy Gibb (wait, maybe not Andy Gibb, moment of silence) and Wayland Flowers and Madame together for a full reunion. THAT...would be great radio.

Will Ditka please shut the fuck up about the '85 Bears already?! Seriously. It's over, done, pasada, that's it. Hell, the White Socks won the World Series a little over a year ago and no one even gives a shit about that anymore. I wouldn't be so hard on Ditka if he actually commented on today's football world without reverting back to 1985. But we all know that anytime he talks, he'll find a way to bring it up again. Ditka is like a creepy old guy who still hangs out at his old high school and constantly reminds the kids about his "glory days." Get a life, old man!

Yeah, WTF was up with that interview? Was Gloria Gaynor too busy. Is this dickhead stuck in some kind of time warp? There has NEVER been a Chicago "personality" so woefully out of touch with his supposed target audience. I haven't listened since Anne was reinstated, but was trapped in a car. I WON'T be listening again. I had painful flashbacks of my grandpa's cigar smelling car, and Wally fucking Phillips on the radio giving away ladybug watches.

Yeah, I agree Kid. I loved that team but whenever I hear the 85 Bears talk I want to punch the button. And, I did want to punch the button again this morning, but I knew I'd be punching it to Mike talking about Peoples' Gas, so I didn't.

In COACH's defense, M&M were asking him about it because of the Wallace headband (McMahon) thing.

Not that COACH needs me to defend him, he could destroy us all with a mere thought.

His show gets worse every day. I stopped listening (regularly) a long time ago...but switch back & forth. M & M beat North time & time again. Marilynn friggen McCoo ??? Solid Cr@p !

The only part of that entire 45 minute span you described was hearing about Fred getting slapped with a belt. If they played a cut of that happening, I'd totally listen to North's crap show.
