This GM in Washington is truly a douchebag.

Go get him Kenny.... when it's your turn of course. What a fucked up rule. Trade season never really ends.

Tons of players are put on waivers every year. Not really shocking. Washington can easily pull him back if they want.

Standard operating procedure. Every major league player is put on waivers during the waiver period. The media are douchebags for reporting this like it's a big deal.

If the cubs brass weren't a bunch of pussies they could put Lee on waivers. Someone may take him and there is no such thing as a no waive clause.

I suspect Kenny wants to call Shenanigans on Rizzo for the Jackson deal, but he's holding his tongue.

Rizzo was on with B&B yesterday and he is one snarky SOB. Said he said there was one name he needed in the deal from Day 1 and Kenny wouldn't budge on it .... draw your own conclusions, but I'm 99% sure it was Beckham.

They can put him on waivers all the want and he isnt going anywhere. Stop dreaming.

All I can do is dream. Unfortunately the reality is that Lou will pencil him in every last lineup card he fill out before he heads into his retirement.

As would every other manager around. There are no better options right now.

I have my doubts about whether Washington will offer Dunn arbitration (if he accepts, he's going to get something in the $16-$18 million range from my understanding), but I also assume that the White Sox were offering a bunch of mid-level type of prospects, and the White Sox system doesn't have a lot to offer to begin with. Rizzo may have been asking for too much, but perhaps the White Sox didn't have much to offer in the first place assuming that Viceido and Beckham weren't being offered by Williams.

Dunn is going to want multiple years. He won't accept arbitration.

Well he doesn't have to pencil him into the 3 hole every night, he should at least swap spots in the batting order with Byrd. If you are trying to put the best lineup out their for each game then there is no better option right now, but I don't care about salvaging any part of this season. He sets the tone for that team and all I want is a culture change in that clubhouse. I'm tired of business as usual. Removing him from the equation changes the dynamic of the team. It is a necessary step to facilitate change and the more games I see like this past week, the sooner I would like it to happen.

This doesn't mean the Nat's won't pull him off waivers if they can't make a deal they like. It's NOT gonna be like the Rios deal, where they let the Sox have the guy on the claim. In this situation, if a team claims Dunn, unless they can come to an agreement on a deal, Washington just pulls him back. but I would think that teams will be putting in a claim. I would have to think that the Sox will be one of them.

I don't know about that - he might. Would he take 1 year for $16-$18 million or would he take a 3 year deal at $12-$14 million? I guess it depends on how badly he wants to stay in Washington.

Rizzo addressed offering Dunn arbitration (he won't get $16M-$18M) in his interview with B&B and said it would be fine if he accepts because then they would be in the same position next trade deadline. The best case scenario for the Nats is they sign him long term. I think they will offer arbitration, Dunn will decline and the Nats will get two draft picks. Hopefully a team with a protected first round selection signs him and the Nats get stuck with a compensation pick and a second rounder.

I think everyone forgets that Rizzo got a top talent in Wilson Ramos for Matt Caps, who was a free agent nothing type guy.

The Nats are loaded with some GREAT talentcoming up and Rizzo is assembling only MLB talent, not hopeful MLB talent. Thus he wanted Beckham or Viciedo and Kenny didnt want to give them up? Thats fine, but who made Kenny the market maker on deals , on what is FMV?

Also, I am sure the Nats and everyone else loved Edwin in June. I loved Edwin Jackson is June when he was on my Roto squad. Go and look at his 4 starts in June , then a bad start, then the No hitter, then 3 or 4 bad starts. I ended up cutting the guy!

and why is everyone crying Dr Don will 100% solve everything. Edwin will have ZERO bad Outings!

A no trade clause trumps a waiver claim.

As a Sox fan, who saw a lot of Jackson in Detroit, I feel sick to my stomach thinking about this guy as a long term starter for my team. He is a guy with sort of electric stuff, but his command sucks shakes' sack.

I believe there is an official process of an agent sending a "NO TRADE" clause enacted to the GM. Which has the legal language of No other team may assume the rights of ______ . Thus the player never sees waivers as a waiver move is = to a trade.

They could release the player, thus Zero rights to the guy and then MAYBE the player says he wants to play and he finally waives his NO trade rights.

However, NO WAY IN HELL, does Good Ole Jim Hendry operate like that, thus I agree with you on the HUGE PUSSIES, but this is Hendry's MO, all about respect and fuck the fans.

I'm pretty sure the player can invoke his no trade clause to block a waiver deal.

The thing the Sox were missing when Peavy went down was a starter who can bring some heat. I think facing a guy like that in a series is important as it gives batters something else to think about. I'm not going to miss Daniel Hudson and his pedestrian stuff.

I won't miss Hudson either, and I agree on the guy who can bring some heat idea, but that still doesn't help my digestive system when I think of Edwin Jackson. I know he was the best option that came to the team, but ugh.

If a team chooses to trade him yes but if a team claims a player off waivers and the team decides to just give him away, it's the same as a release. See Alex Rios.

That was more what I was aiming at, I know they couldn't do a waiver trade. The red sox just lost Youk for the season today. I can't imagine anyone wanting to eat the 4.?? mill he is owed, but who knows. I would give up the compensation pick the cubs would get after he leaves for another team this off season for getting out of paying the almost 5 mil.

I don't think that's correct. I'm not sure if Rios had a no trade or not, but had he chosen to invoke it, and Toronto refused to revoke the waivers, he would have had the choice to go to the Sox (or any other team that placed a claim) or become a free agent. In either case, Toronto would have been responsible for his contract.
