Torres is getting his tits lit up. Good thing they won the first game.

TB is beating the Twins 3-1 in the bottom of the 2nd.

If I ever see Carlos Torres on the bump again for the Sox, it will be too soon. He was atrocious last year and it continues this year.

To be fair, he is leading the AL in steals

He's doing about what I said he would prior to the season. He is a GREAT bunter and that skill has been put to use well by Ozzie. He has stolen plenty of bases (although he's been caught stealing a bit more than ideal) and he's shown very little pop in his bat. As I said then, I would rather have Pods myself, but they are somewhat similar. Except that Pierre makes about 3 times as much...and Pods has more pop in his bat.

Is Pierre still on his Cubs contract?

Salary not withstanding, while they have the same noodle arm, Pierre seems to get better jumps than Pods does. While he does get thrown out more than what would be ideal, at least he doesn't get picked off first as much as Pods did/does. I'd rather have him getting caught at second than picked off first because it gives the defense a different mindset.

I hope to hell that they can do some damage to the crappy Tigers bullpen.

Well, this game appears to be about over. Hopefully there will be no more Carlos Torres. I think the split for the DH is fine, but they really can't let tonight carry over to tomorrow.

Even if Carlos Torres won tonight, SJ, he might be on the way back to Triple "A" Charlotte anyway. Before the twinbill this afternoon, Torres was recalled and lefty reliever Erick Threets was placed on the 15 day DL with "turf toe". Speculation is lefty reliever and White Sox #1 pick THIS YEAR, Chris Sale, could be called up before tomorrow's game.

As for Torres, the first 2 innings sealed his fate tonight when he allowed 5 runs, all earned to Detroit. Torres' control was awful and walked 5 guys in 6 innings of work. Even though it would've been his turn to start this eve in Charlotte, the reason why Lucas Harrell wasn't called up was that he had only pitched Friday night vs. the A's and would've been worked on 3 days rest. Even if Harrell was called up, it's asking a bit much for a rookie pitcher to be called up and expected to pitch a quality start in a spot like this.

Not bad. That is what you call "scattering" 9 hits. At least he wasn't walking lots of guys. I think even in his no-no he walked like 7 guys

No hitter had 6 k's and 8 walks. He looked decent tonight.

He also hit a batter in his no-no

If he gives up 9 hits to better teams than the Tigers, he is going to be in trouble. But I think he is a better option at this point than Hudson was down the stretch. Need Freddy to have a quality start and take 3 of 4 in this series.

I do like the idea of having a guy who can throw 95 mph in the rotation and also being able to move Garcia back to the number 5.

A win today and 3 in Baltimore could make for a really nice road trip.

Apparently, Buck Showalter is the second coming in Baltimore.

And we all remember how much Ozzie likes Buck. This should be a fun weekend.

The only person who believes that is Buck Showalter.

Kind of interesting that Detroit still considers Peralta a SS. Granted they have a ton of injuries so maybe guys are playing out of position..

Thornton appears to need regular work to stay sharp. They can't let him sit for a week at a time.

With the Twins winning earlier, this game becomes fairly big for the Sox to hang on and win. Need a double play right here.
