The Seattle Mariners fired manager Don Wakamatsu on Monday and promoted Daren Brown to replace him.

The Mariners, who received little production from offseason acquisitions Milton Bradley and Chone Figgins, are 42-70 and in last place in the AL West.

Hardly his fault since the management has made a ridiculous amount of personnel errors, both in trades and free agents. Regardless Mariners fans don't demand any accountability from the team. Having a Griffey farewell tour and electing Edgar Martinez to the HOF seem as important as winning. They cling to the record-breaking 2001 season as if the ALCS didn't happen. 30+ seasons of fail. The smartest move they could make is trading Ichiro in the offseason.

Agreed. Wakamatsu seems like a bright guy, I hope he lands another job somewhere.

Horry Cow.

I'm sure he'll get another chance. Seems like a bright enough guy put in a bad situation

I should add that the over-the-top Griffey love is somewhat understandable because he saved the franchise from leaving, which takes on even more significance in Seattle since the Sonics bolted. Safeco is the house that Griffey built.
