Bobby has pitched poorly but a DL stint could seriously mess with the rotation of the bullpen. Everyone would have to move up a spot and the Sox would need to find a replacement for the 7th guy. Another problem is they want to keep Sale's work load down because of all the innings he already pitched this year and they are still trying to protect Santos who is in his first season as a pitcher.

The options are calling someone up from the minors like Marquez or Braun (17 saves in triple A) or they could trade for a veteran (there should be no shortage of those) like Scot Shields, LaTroy Hawkins ( ) or Jason Frasor.

Personally I hope Bobby will only require a few days off and not a trip to the DL.

At least the Sox have the luxury of having guys like Putz, Thornton, and Santos who can all close if needed.

Poor Bobby. Wasn't he the guy who got hit by Pierzynski's liner last night?

Joe, I believe Jenks was the guy who got hit in the dugout. I think he's DL-bound after the game tomorrow.

The decision to do nothing has already cost them two games. How many more days are they going to sit on their hands?!?

Freddy cost them yesterday and Jenks could have given up just as long a HR on saturday.

How can you say Freddy cost them when the bullpen gave up 8 runs in the last 3 innings??

The entire pitching staff was bad yesterday, but Freddy put them behind the 8ball to begin with.

Bad starting pitching and misplays in the field lead to big innings for the other team.

Freddy's the 5th starter which means the bullpen needs to carry more of the load. They failed. Ozzie also fucked up by not calling on Thornton to face Damon in the 8th.

A 'flyball' that hit off the centerfield wall and was 2 feet away from being a 3 run homer?? Lefties are hitting .163 against Thornton and .254 against Putz. You bet your ass that's on Ozzie.

To be fair, I think Thornton had been in 3 straight games.
