Nas, I've come to the same conclusion. Rex is rattled and is making so many bad decisions, he's a liability. The D is so good that an Orton-like 100 yards passing with zero turnovers would be better than giving the opposition 4 picks. But Turner isn't helping him out one bit....3rd and 2 and they go deep? Where are the 5 yard quick slants and the 5 yard curl patterns in this offense?

Last week it was poor accuracy. This week, he went back to making bad decisions and slinging it off his back foot. I didn't even recognize him in the fourth quarter. He looked scared to even throw the 2 yard dump offs.

They need to tell him not to go deep unless the receiver has blown coverage. He needs to use these next games at practices for throwing to check downs.

And Benson needs to start. I can't stand to watch Jones step out of bounds instead of hitting someone and picking up three or four extra yards.

Rex should have been pulled today, and last week for that matter. Like Nas I'm a huge Grossman fan, but he should be yanked when he makes stupid decisions. The unconditional backing of Grossman is working against his development. He should know that there are consequences to making stupid throws. But Nas is right, the recievers stink, they have come down a lot since the start of the season. Clark has looked terrible the last couple of games... Moose is a non factor and Berrian is soft. Every pick Grossman has thrown Berrians way he has done almost nothing to prevent. On deep balls you have to fight for the ball, he just seems weak out there..

We need an official Start Benson thread, I to am sick of Jones hopping out of bounds running style.

not sure if it's the recievers fault. the interception to berrian was clearly under thrown. rex is just off. he needs to get his head on straight.

This game was not a shock in the least. Rex has major problems that will not be solved this season. He mentally is not strong enough to control himself. He throws it up and prays. The Arizona game exposed him and there has been nothing to show that differently. He has a good moment or two since then but he is not getting it done. The training wheels have to be off. He must be held accountable and we can't sit there and wait for magical time that it all clicks together and he becomes an all-pro QB.

Griese may be good, Griese may be average, but he will be an upgrade. The first 5 games mean nothing now. Sit Rex down and see if the backup is better. At any other position, a player that is not performing goes to the bench. Rex Grossman has worn out all good will he created during the first 5 games.

Lovie Smith will be the last person in Chicago to figure out that it is not working with Rex. He will use the excuse that we are 10-2. How did a good record work out for Kyle Orton? If Lovie Smith sticks to his guns and goes with Rex, than I no longer blame Rex. Lovie Smith needs to either bench Rex or fix his problems fast. If Rex Grossman plays like this in a playoff game, I hope that Lovie doesn't get his contract extension.

Grossman should play the first half of the Rams game and strictly work on the underneath patterns for the sake of better efficiency and confidence.

Griese should play the fourth quarter if not the whole second half.

Benson needs to split carries withe TJ, or get the majority of the carries. Yes he is a head case, but that kid can run with anger.

The defense is great, but they will get gassed in the playoffs if the next four games are like this. The defense cannot bail Grossman out every game.

What's missing from all this talk about Grossman is how amazing the defense continues to play. Yeah they gave up a lot of rushing yards but they had another 5 turnover day. This defense is scary good.

I'll drink to that. They are freaking unbelievable. I was a little unimpressed with the D-line, especially late, but then, they were on the field for most of the game. But, my god, do they get the turnovers.

Has anyone heard what the story is with Tommie Harris? IMO, there was a noticeable drop-off with Boone in.

I agree with this. Again, I'm not saying Griese is the savior, but we need to find out if we can do better. Grossman has been absolutely disastrous far too frequently for a team that has SB ambitions.

Minimum of half the carries; IMO, the way he's been running the ball makes the case for him getting the bulk of the carries a no-brainer. He is hitting that first tackler and dragging him 5 yards with regularity. I want to see an offense that features Benson for 25 carries; let's see if we have gold with that early round draft pick.

List of things Rex does not do, or at least not enough.
1) Throw the ball out of bounds
2) Take sacks(not always a bad thing to do, better than an interception)
3) Take off and run. Doing it once a game for even 1 yard changes the defense
4) Drop it off to the running back when the play doesn't work downfield

I said before today's game, that I would give Rex 2 games to get something good, and get back on track because we have to give Brian Griese meaningful time to feel comfortable for the playoffs.

Rex sucked today.

In my opinion, I would let him play the Rams game - but I even think you have to start thinking about replacing him if the offense continues to sputter and he's turning the ball over.

We are not going to win games, or many that is, turning the ball over 4 or 5 times so Rex should be on alert - I'd like to give him the entire game as long as he isn't turning it over.

We still have a 2 game lead for home field, and I don't want to lose a game on that lead because we are experimenting with Rex's confidence.

The Score reported that Harris' knee injury was listed as "a severely sprained knee". Having gone through the injury myself, a torn MCL or ACL definitely invokes the painful expressions that we saw on Tommy's face during the game. I wouldn't expect him to be back any time before 4 weeks.

As I said during the offseason, you don't annoint any of these quarterbacks the starter. You make them earn it. Put the three of these guys (yes, Orton too) in a head-to-head competition this week and go with the best one come Sunday.

A severely sprained knee to me sounds like code word for torn MCL or ACL.

This would be bad, and, if true, hopefully he'll be back for the start of next season.

From the Bears perspective, not that we could lose a player like that, but we do have good depth with Tank, Ian Scott, and then Alfonso Boone...

Hope it's just a few weeks though!

I like throwing a slant and gaining 9 yards in the first quarter and then not doing it again. Roll Grossman out for a few plays then dont go back to that either, I'm losing confidence in Rex as quickly as I am in Turner and Lovie, run the fucking ball 35+ times a game dont gameplan for these teams, gameplan like you'll be playing in the playoffs and rainbow Rex aint gonna win any games heaving the ball in the playoffs, god the NFC sucks and I hate the fucking Gramaticas.

I put this on Grossman. I'm sure they run someone deep to open up the mid routes. Rex just chooses to go deep, instead of looking underneath.

Just like in elementary school basketball, where we had to pass the ball three times before we could shoot (no, it wasn't a "special" school), Rex should be forced to look off his deep options and throw underneath for an entire game.

As said elsewhere, Turner gets full blame for run/pass ratio, not going back to routes or roll outs that worked earlier, and not steeping up to see more of Benson.

you can put it on whomever....
but i know that half the time there are underneath routes and half the time there aren't.

yes...it was Benson and Clark and Clark's man fell down too.
Moose Dick Goose even analyzed the replay.

that would be a case in which there were underneath routes available....
still doesn't excuse throwing/calling a 20 yard pass on 3rd and 2.
or a 1 yard pass on 3rd and 9.
