Illinois is a good program,

It's not a good football program at the moment but, it's had its moments in recent years - just too few of them.

The coordinators should help. But the rumblings that I heard from the scrimmage were that the defense is far from where it needs to be which bodes ill for a team starting a Freshman QB.

Still, I think the team will be better than last year if only because of experience, guys back from injuries, and better coaching. They are going to run, run, and then run some more so the Freshman QB might be on the young Juice Williams throw it 14 times a game plan.

I have a real problem picking a team just because it is successful. If that is your criteria, go watch NFL and be done with it. Or just go pick Alabama and then jump off the bandwagon when they lose. I think you pick a program because you believe in the:
1) leadership (i.e., the coach's ability to develop talent, and does he represent the program well)
2) tradition (i.e., you enjoy the pomp and circumstance around gameday, and the rich history)
3) accessibility(i.e., can you get tickets, ticket prices, can you follow them on TV)
4) way they treat their fans (i.e.., are they investing in the program)

Boise St.?

A fan can choose any college he/she wants based on w/e criteria.

I mainly follow the best college players every year in both the major NCAA sports. I have no deep affinity for any program. Sometimes Ill follow a team like Hawaii a few years ago when they had the "Night Creep" Brennan behind center. I was actually attending NIU the year they bounced Maryland and Alabama with Michael Turner. Vince young was fun to watch for 3 years in college. So was AP.

These guys arent signing contracts, and there's not enough attention given to the fact the NCAA is basically a minor league for the NFL IMO. That makes it hard to trust the nature/motives of the University and the systems in place.

Seriously, though... if any of you guys want tickets, please ask. I might not always be able to give them away, but I have six good season tickets and I rarely use all of them. I got six this year because of the Wrigley game.

I'll take them on 11/13 thanksbye.
