I have confidence in Twins losing at least 2 more times in Texas but Have no idea how Sox will react after brutal series in KC. I do like the idea of going after Manny.

Pitching Matchups:

Tonight
Gavin Floyd vs Jeremy Guthrie

Tomorrow
Brian Matusz vs Mark Buehrle

Thursday
Jake Arrieta vs Edwin Jackson

In theory, they have the advantage in all 3 pitching matchups, but we know what that means. I think they take 2 of 3, but I think they lose tonight 3-1.

Lineups later...

I don't know about that sj. Guthrie has been throwing well lately while Gaving has been bad the last two weeks.

The Sox need a complete game out of one of these pitchers. I'd love to see Gavin reclaim his momentum tonight and Buehrle go 9 tomorrow as well.

My thought without saying it was that Guthrie wins tonight and the Sox win tomorrow and Thursday.

Edit-maybe I did say they lose tonight after all

I see your point, but the offense is free to score some runs this time round against the O's

Guys, even though the White Sox were off yesterday, I think the bullpen is still very unsettled and I tend to agree with Frank on 2 fronts. First, against all 4 of the Orioles' starting pitchers in Baltimore, the White Sox only scored 4 runs total vs. pitchers with losing records & high E.R.A.'s. Second, even with yesterday's off day, the Sox bullpen is still in shambles and very unsettled with injury concerns to J.J. Putz & Matt Thornton. I'm kinda greedy myself. I think Gavin Floyd & Mark Buehrle need to go deep in these first 2 games to give Ozzie a chance to better settle this bullpen.

AJ should be hitting 9th. At the very least, him and Teahan should be flipped.

It's okay, SJ, but I think the time has come for Ozzie to move Alexei up to 2nd in the lineup the rest of the way instead of consistently moving him up & down.

If I made this lineup, it would go

Pierre
Ramirez
Rios
Konerko
Quentin
Teahen
Beckham
Vizquel
AJ

Erik Threets is healthy and with Matt Thornton unavailable all week I don't know why they don't bring Threets up and send Lillibridge down. Another arm in the bullpen is needed A LOT more than an extra guy on the bench and they can bring Lillibridge back in 10 days because the rosters will be expanded. I don't understand why they won't give this beat up bullpen some help.

I never understood why Rowand hit higher than Crede.

You gotta have this fuckin' game. I don't care if you have to bring Buehrle in and bring a guy up to pitch tomorrow. This is ridiculous.

This is also why you are not a MLB manager. Alexei does not walk, take pitches, or consistently hit behind runners, which are all traits of a number 2 hitter behind a base stealer. His presence in the 2 hole is only justified versus lefthanders due to his platoon splits.

YES!!!

Twins lose tonight, this thing isn't over per se (unless you are using ES math)

The bullpen is on life support, it's time for Putz to hit the DL, let's see what Charlotte has to offer.

It's tough to like the way they're playing, but we're still alive.

Fuentes is on waivers. I believe he led the league in saves?

It's going to be tough if they have to be up 5 runs in the 9th just to win a game. Great job by Gavin and Bobby and a big home run by Gordon. Buehrle has to keep it rolling tommorrow. 3.5 back.

DON'T STOP NOW BOYS!

With Thornton and Putz heading to the DL, it looks like Threets will be activated from the DL and Lucas Harrell will be called up as replacements. Now I feel sick.

Using MY math huh?? Thats funny  The Sox have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games. They have lost 11 of their last 17. The Twins have lost 2 games to another 1st place team, including a very well played 4-3 game last night. The Rangers record (17 games over .500) is almost as good as the Twins. After the Twins game tonight ( should be another good one, with Brian Deunsing7-1 1.92 ERA faces C.J. Wilson 12-5 3.02 ERA) the Twins play the Seattle Mariners and then the Detroit Tigers. After the Sox finish up with Baltimore, they face the Yankees. They also have a series left with the REd Sox, who are desperately trying to contend for the wild card. Can't wait to see the Sox bullpen against the Yankees.
