I'm sick of A.J. swinging for the fences every time he comes to bat. It really pisses me when he does it late in a game, with the White Sox down and runners on base. Always trying to be the hero !!! He would never consider NOT swinging at a pitch in the dirt or a foot outside. Taking a walk to him is something he is unwilling to do. When he struck out yesterday on the pitch that hit in front of home plate, I lost it. I'm done with him, I want him gone. He's a selfish phony. I still see him lingering near the wall behind homeplate, while Scott Podsednik went after Michael Barrett, then pounding his chest in the dugout when he was safe from another beating. Hawk drooling over him doesn't help either, " He gets pitchers in a groove and keeps them there ". Eat it Hawk !!! the only reason you are always in the " Lick A.J. at all times ' mode is that your kid played high school ball with him.

AJ is older now,but if I was a Sox fan, hard to hate anyone who helped my team win a WS.

AJ simply hit the 33 year old date of depreciation. I'm suprised it didn't happen earlier with all the games he caught. I know he doesn't take a walk. At the same time he doesn't strike out, so it's not like he has a bad eye.

Even at his best, AJ was a slightly above average catcher. I don't buy all the bs about him having a positive influence on pitchers and he does not throw runners out. He is good at blocking the plate. He hits for a decent average with some power.

AJ never seemed like one to be a backup or train younger guys but that will be his role in the future wherever he plays.

You are seriously overestimating the current state of catchers in major league baseball. Jason Kendell, Ivan Rodriguez, Ryan Doumit, Bengie Molina, Gerald Laird and Ronny Paulino (before the steroid suspension) are all everyday catchers. AJ will be an everyday catcher for the foreseeable future.

Here are the Elias type A/B free agent rankings. They are over a two year period and the stats used are: PA, AVG, OBP, HR, RBI, Fielding percentage, Assists.

American League Catchers:

Joe Mauer Minnesota A 92.208
Victor Martinez Boston A 86.147
A.J. Pierzynski Chicago A A 78.788
Kurt Suzuki Oakland A 78.355
Jorge Posada New York A A 77.489
Matt Wieters Baltimore A 74.892
Mike Napoli Los Angeles A B 73.160
Bengie Molina Texas B 72.727
Jason Varitek Boston B 67.965
John Buck Toronto B 67.532
Kelly Shoppach Tampa Bay B 62.771
Jason Kendall Kansas City B 60.606
Gerald Laird Detroit B 56.710

National League Catchers

Miguel Montero Arizona A 79.853
Brian McCann Atlanta A 79.121
Ramon Hernandez Cincinnati A 77.656
Carlos Ruiz Philadelphia A 77.473
Yadier Molina St. Louis A 76.923
Geovany Soto Chicago N A 76.190
Russell Martin Los Angeles N A 69.963
Miguel Olivo Colorado A 66.484
Ryan Doumit Pittsburgh B 64.103
Yorvit Torrealba San Diego B 63.370
Ivan Rodriguez Washington B 63.00
Chris Snyder Pittsburgh B 62.454
Ronny Paulino Florida B 61.722
Ryan Hanigan Cincinnati B 61.355
Rod Barajas New York N B 58.974
Dave Ross Atlanta B 58.608

AJ is statistacally the 3rd best catcher in the AL and 6th best in all of baseball.
