It may be the meatball in me but I expect a Twin collapse. Sox need to sweep those last 3 games though. Besides the Twins the only team on the schedule that scares me is the Red Sox and with all their injuries and the way the standings look they will likely start looking forward to next season.

Tigers have played the Twins very well over the last couple of seasons. I hope that holds true and the Sox can knock a couple of games off this week.

Duensing, Liriano and Baker going vs the Tigers. I like the Twins to take that series. The Twins have won 16 of their last 25 on the road.

Twins are playing a pretty decent Tigers team. Only game the Twins have a shot to win is with Liriano going.

Thats not even close. My favorite players of all time, are Fergie Jenkins (I have worn #31 since I was 12 because of him) and Billy Williams. I can't stand Pierre because of the way he plays. He's a punch and Judy hitter, with too much Judy and not enough punch. He throws terribly too. He bunts and runs well....thats it. He slaps the ball around and gets on base enough to get sufficient opportunities to steal bases, which maximizes his otherwise minimal value. His ethnicity has nothing to do with my disdain for him though.

You "can't stand Pierre" even though he got over 200 hits 4 freakin times (averaging arund 188) AND averages over 50 steals a season?
Steve, that's just baseball dumb.

It's ironic....I thought he was a pretty good player and the numbers you speak of (200 hits and 50 steals) look great. But watching him play every day with the Cubs, I grew to dislike his game. Too many weak ground balls hit right to the 2nd baseman. No clutch hits when you needed them most, to drive in a runner. One of the worst arms ever attached to a major league ballplayer. No power....He has some value as a guy that puts pressure on the pitcher/defense, when he's on base and as a base-stealer and as a bunter. But overall, I don't like him as a player.

Dude with the Cubs he had over 200 hits and something like 58 stolen bases. 32 doubles. That means that nearly half the time he's getting on base, he was in scoring position. That's incredible. The fact that he ended up with only 87 runs tells you how fucking pathetic that year's Cubs team was. Pierre was a BRIGHT spot there man. He also played 162 games that year. That's awesome. Did that for 5 years. You HAVE GOT to respect that, and if you don't like that as a ball player then the deal is with you not him.

Brian Duensing has a 2.19 ERA and has a 7-2 record. Since being inserted into the starting rotation, he has stabalized their rotation and has a 2.66 ERA as a starter. To say the Twins have no shot with Duensing pitching tonight is as stupid  as anything you have posted. thats saying a lot. Baker is very inconsistent, but still 12-9 on the year. he went 7 shutout inning recently vs the Angels and 8 shutout inning vs the Rays, but has had 2 poor performances vs the Sox. Which Scot Baker shows up, who knows... But he's certainly capable of beating the Tigers. To say Baker has no shot either, would be stupid. It was.

If you remember that season (I do) he started the season hitting about .200 or lower over the 1st 2 months. After the team had several injuries and the team was out of contention, he began to hit. Yeah, he got the hits you speak of, but never with guys in scoring position. He stole bases, but he would seem to get his hits with 2 outs and nobody on, steal a base and get stranded. When he was leading off...far less often. When guys were on base, especially in scoring posuition...almost never. Sometimes certain numbers don't really tell the story. The 87 runs is not just due to poor production by hitters batting in the 2,3 &4 spots. I like guys that can hit/drive the ball, not slap it around. He's just not a player I care for.

Last time I checked, this really isn't part of a LEAD OFF MAN'S job description

Elmhurst Steve wrote:

How is this his fault? He got his hits in the situation at the plate. He got his steals because of that. To me it's whomever is hitting behind him that is responsible for getting him in, unless you were expecting him to steal 2nd, 3rd, and home at all times.

Elmhurst Steve wrote:

Do you have numbers to substantiate this? To me, leading off isn't just the game, but an inning as well.

Elmhurst Steve wrote:

Nice spelling, and see comment 1

Elmhurst Steve wrote:

How so?

Dude. You must be insane. If he got 204 hits, but never with guys in scoring position that means A) he was a fucking leadoff hitter, or leading off an inning (accounting for 460 of his plate appearances that season), and that his team didn't do shit around him. Whatever I don't want to argue with you. But one could argue that Pierre is the best leadoff hitter the Cubs have had in decades and possibly one of Baseballs best (and most archtypical) leadoff hitters.

So basically, when 460/750, or 60% of your plate appearances are leading off the inning, how many RBI opportunities do you think you get?

God Steve please eat a dick and shut up.

No one cares about your revisionist history or insightful thoughts on the Sox, a team you don't like.

Please do the following:

1.) Eat a dick
2.) Rinse
3.) Repeat

The day I will ever take your Sox thoughts seriously is the day you have credibility.

Steve is an idiot.

The year Brady Anderson hit 50 HRs, he had only 110 RBI.

No Manny in the lineup. Must be busy negotiating an appropriate length for his hair.

That is about $122,580 he is getting paid to not be in the lineup tonight.

Why would he not be in the lineup tonight? That makes no sense to me, why get the guy if he is going to be on the bench. I don't think Ozzie wants him.

Apparently, Ozzie said last night that if he didn't get into late today, he wouldn't put him in the lineup.

Per Cowley, his flight is due @ 3 CST - meaning only about 3 hours before first pitch.

I'll be pissed if Kotsay has a monster game, and Ozzie decides to keep running him out on a regular basis. These assholes are so stubborn with this DH bullshit this year, it wouldn't surprise me if management still believes that not signing a real DH this spring was a good decision.

Do you honestly think manny needs any time at all to get ready? He doesn't need to shag balls or even take bp. Bat him 7-9 so he isn't up in the first and let him take some hacks in the cage if he is that strained for time. I am convinced this is over his hair.

To my knowledge, Manny Ramirez has yet to arrive in Cleveland to join his new teammates. Meanwhile, as for the lineup tonight, I'm a little surprised that Omar Vizquel is playing second base instead of third base where he'd become very accustomed. Mark Teahen, who is playing third base tonight, has been awful defensively. If I were Teahen, I'd learn how to play second or first and give up third base completely.

3 hours?? Yeah that is clearly NOT enough time for a professional ball player to be ready.
