Holmes and Spiegel trashed Bears Houseman Zach during an interview today and Zach called back to clarify his stances on the Buffoonish Bears.

Mitch is doing a disservice to this guy's career. Every show is just letting loose on the guy and basically calling him a Bear's ass kisser. If I were Zach I would drop the beat reporter gig and just be a sideline reporter if he wants to retain any shred of credibility he has left.

I guess Bernstein started a trend at the SCORE. He dogs Zack so now the other shows are gonna do it. Doesn't shock me that Larry picked on Bernstein's thing. Bernstein made it cool to bash Zack. What exactly was this one about? What was said?

You're right, though. Mitch has to take him off the beat. Just let him do updates at WBBM and give the beat to someone else. If the hosts treat him as a "Bears Shill", how can you keep giving Zack to the listeners?

Zack must be going insane. He tries to keep his cool on the air, but it has to bother him that everybody at the SCORE discredits everything he says. I can just picture Zack swearing everytime he hangs up the phone after a "Bears Report".

Oh man, talk about putting Laurence in a tough situation. Zach is his BFF, but Bernsie has set the tone for ripping Zach at all times.

Im just saying, I dont think ZZ is much dif than any other NFL beat reporter. The desire to see Zaidman air the Bears out in the preseason is a little premature, to say the least.

Because he's being paid by the organization to be the sideline reporter on Sundays. It's a conflict of interest because he's more concerned (and I won't fault him for this) with keeping his paychecks coming.

The bigger problem is Rosen keeping him as the Bears beat guy for the station. I remember hearing that Holmes would be doing more Bears beat stuff this year (which I understand he can't when he's co-hosting), but if that's the case, they need to find another substitute than using GHG because he's there.

Something about journalistic integrity, I suppose. Not an issue for a "host" but it is an issue for a beat reporter. While I'm not a fan of his work, I don't blame The GHG - he's been put in a tough position as a pseudo-employee and an alleged reporter. If Brad Biggs started drawing a paycheck from Halas Hall, I'd have to imagine the management of the Chicago Tribune would not allow it.

Same thing goes for his coverage of the trainwreck college basketball program in Lincoln Park.

Zach, at this time, sucks. He is handcuffed and is in a very precarious position concerning what he can and cannot say. He needs access so he can't tell the whole unvarnished truth, he can't make factual comments without spin and he can't go after players who are CLEARLY under performing or being total idiots. He just can't so he has to protect Greg Olson and make it seem that he is just a "hidden gem" and that it was/is the scheme's fault for not utilizing him. T. Harris, Cutler, Lovie, The Bears as a whole etc are all treated with very kid gloves and he always has to mix in faint criticism with overwhelming layers of bullshit and spin so he won't piss the players off. Players who, like Cutler and Olson and Urlacher Briggs on those interviews with ZZ, don't really appreciate him covering their under-performing asses. Do you think ZZ likes this? He probably hits the bottle right when his work is done and methodically loads and unloads a pistol while talking to himself and getting blasted. He is a true masochist but it's his job.

The hosts know this all to well but they still have to hammer him on air and blast him whenever possible. This is lame. It really isn't his fault as management put him in this situation. ZZ has to suck Bears Balls and Shaft and Brown Star because he needs to do his job and that's what his job is.

Larry is just picking up on Bernsie and his angle because he wants to fuck Lil' Danny and toss his salad. Just look at Lil' Larry and his targeting of Kenny Williams and his "BS" remarks on Manny. Jesus, talk about just plain blatantly stealing another hosts material.

The less Zach has to say the better.

I only caught Zach's callback this morning, but I did listen to the first part twice on the podcast. Am I missing something? Did they edit something out of the podcast? It didn't seem any worse than any other Ginger Haired Jackass report I've heard.

Whenever I heard Larry he sounded as if he missed a brown spot on his nose. Dannyboy didn't hide his friendly relationship with Dave Wannstedt. Its easy for them to give Zach shit because they know where the line is drawn and know he has live in their past.
