Steve you can make your posts as long as you want and it won't change what you posted. Saying a projection of them winning at their season pace is "very conservative" means that you feel it is more likely that they will continue to win at a .700 pace.

Was that Infante's first appearance in the majors? I noticed he snatched the ball after the inning and thought it's either that or he's scuffing the ball and didn't want to leave evidence of it behind.

Anyone else can read the explaination and understand exactly what was written. I'm sorry that you can't comprehend it, but I'm done trying to help you understand it. Public Schools may have a "no child left behind" policy, but I don't.

It simply meant that I believe it's entirely possible they will exceed the win total that their current record has them on pace for.

Same as before...2nd. Oh, and Jim Thome just homered and the Twins lead 10-2 in the bottom of the 6th. Thome has scored 3 runs in the game now. 8)

Saying the pace they established over the entire season is a "very conservative" projection how they will finish the rest of the season means that you believe it is very likely they will exceed that. I'm reading what you posted.

Let's try it another way.

Predicting Elmhurst Steve will post 1 racist comment this month, in light of his numerous racist posts over the past year, is actually fairly conservative.

You should really count them all and divide the number by 12 to get an accurate average. Then you could come up with a reasonable number. But I can say with reasonable certainty that 1 would be a conservative number.

I had actually thought about making some such comments in my posts trying to explain to your dumb ass, how the Twins projected win total was conservative. After you continued to have great difficulty understanding, I considered contacting someone who was proficient in the use of ebonics. Or perhaps contacting the woman from Airplane that spoke "jive" would be the way to go? In any case, consider your estimate on my posts most certainly conservative, and make sure to pay off those who bet the over.

Twins won 10-3 so the Sox are now 4 1/2 back with just 23 games left for the Twins and 24 games remaining for the Sox.

The Twins went into last night with 81 Wins.

They won 1 game last night. (1.000)

81+1=82

If my calculations are correct, the win ADDED to their win total.

This is not good news for Sox fans and Ill explain why.

When determining the winner of a division, the most important thing to look at is Record. The Record (a teams total wins and total losses *) goes a long way in finding the winner.

Now using the same formula we use for the Twins wins.
We look at Sox losses.

The Sox had 60 losses going into last night.
The lost 1 game last night (.000 pct)
60+1=61

So A Twins W + a Sox L = A Full Game (in the scientific industry)

This puts the Sox roughly 4.5 (Four and a half) games back.

The more you look at the numbers, the more you think the Twins have and advantage at this point.

The Twins cannot finish below .500 this season.

Don't forget, that with the win by the Twins, that the magic number actually went down by 1. If that number hits 0, there is no chance the Sox win the division.

Maybe they should just induct Jim Thome into the Hall of Fame this weekend.

They could have just come to this thread and gotten the numbers from me...they are the same. :!: Joe Orr are you convinced now the Twins will win 93 or more games?? Again, I will not be surprised (In light of their more recent record...31-11 in past 42 games) ) if the Twins exceed the win total they are on pace for, as that estimate is made based upon their entire season's record to date and their winning percentage since the All-Star break, is far greater.

Sox are putting themselves in a position to need a sweep against the Twins. That's not good.

You cannot be down with this road trip so far. The Sox have played excellent outside of last night.

Its frustrating because you go 7-1 and actually lose a game. You can't ask for much more out of the Sox than an 8-2 road trip.

Todays game looks good for the Sox, with Danks facing Bonderman. However, Danks is working on just 3 days rest, so he may not go deep into the game. The bullpen will have to be effective. But on Thursday its Porcello VS Floyd and thats not a slam dunk. Porcello went 7 inning vs the Sox in his outing on Aug 14th and gave up just 2 runs. He has also gone 7 innings in each of his last 3 starts and won them all.

But Steve- I thought we should look at the entire season to get a better representation of things, right?

Porcello is 8-11 on the year with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP

That's not very good. You also mention the 8/14 start but neglect to mention his other 2 starts vs. the Sox which were disastrous

Thats a good catch on your part. If I point out Porcello's ERA and WHIP it doesn't intimidate anyone. If I pointed out that Floyd is 5-0 against the Tigers, that actually might make Sox fans feel good about their chances in that game. Those kinds of thing (along with Porcello's other starts this year VS the Sox) don't serve to worry or irritate Sox fans, so they must be omitted! :x

Even though they are related, the time is fast approaching where Ozzie can no longer rely on Freddy Garcia, regardless of how much longer the White Sox remain in the pennant race. I wouldn't be shocked if Lucas Harrell gets the call Sunday vs. the Royals at U.S. Cellular Field instead of Freddy. Bad back or no back, this can't continue! :x :x

Besides, the sights of Mark Teahen at third, Omar Vizquel (and the #11 which should be retired) at second, Mark Kotsay at first & Carlos Quentin in right field last night made me cringe...I don't want to see those four on the same field again!

The lineup is in for tonight's third of four between the White Sox & Tigers. Don Kelly starts at first base for Detroit this eve after Miguel Cabrera was forced to leave the game due to tendinitis in his left shoulder. Here's how the Sox will lineup vs. Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman:

1 Juan "I Scored the Only Run Last Night!" Pierre LF
11 Omar "I Drove Home the Only Run" Vizquel 2B
51 Alex "0 for 3 with 2 K's" Rios CF
14 Paul "I'm Back, But Not Gordon...Yet" Konerko 1B
99 Manny "Hit Me Again...I Dare You!" Ramirez DH
23 Mark "Learn How to Play Second or First!" Teahen 3B
25 Andruw "Carlos Quentin: 0 for 7 in Series" Jones RF
12 A.J. "2 for 3 Last Night" Pierzynski C
10 Alexei "Ozzie, I Should Be 2nd, Not 9th" Ramirez SS

John "If I Suck Tonight, It's Cooper's Fault" Danks starts on three days rest for the Southsiders, while Gordon "My Hand's Feeling Better" Beckham sits for a second straight game.
