Even though they are related, the time is fast approaching where Ozzie can no longer rely on Freddy Garcia, regardless of how much longer the White Sox remain in the pennant race. I wouldn't be shocked if Lucas Harrell gets the call Sunday vs. the Royals at U.S. Cellular Field instead of Freddy. Bad back or no back, this can't continue! :x :x

Besides, the sights of Mark Teahen at third, Omar Vizquel (and the #11 which should be retired) at second, Mark Kotsay at first & Carlos Quentin in right field last night made me cringe...I don't want to see those four on the same field again!

Besides batting, (if you even want him to do that) do you want to see Teahen on the field at all? The Sox began their hot stretch with Visquel taking over at 3rd. The defense is so good on the left side with Visquel and Ramirez that I would have those 2 at SS and 3rd. Lillibridge can play 2nd a lot better than Teahen and would be my choice if Beckham's out again.

If Gordon Beckham continues to be sidelined for a prolonged period, I would have no trouble seeing Brent Lillibridge at second base full time rather than Omar Vizquel. Omar's value to the 2010 White Sox has been at third, and even before Mark Teahen broke his finger vs. the Rays, Ozzie was using Vizquel at third late in games defensively instead. Besides, that old fart in Vizquel's not getting any younger...

That being said, when Beckham hurt his right hand in Cleveland & Lillibridge became the late-inning hero that Monday night starting the trip, I was surprised Brent wasn't rewarded starting at second...

I'm not sure SHARK but I'm thinking it had something to do with Lillibridge throwing a ball in the dugout and allowing the tying run to score in the bottom of the 9th.

Tigers over 4 tonight was a easy bet, with Danks on 3 days rest. Should of put more coin on it.

Good job Ozzie. Tell him to throw at his head as the first pitch of the inning. Good thing you have your priorities in order during a pennant chase.

Come celebrate Mexican Independence Day at U.S. Cellular Field! Good seats still available! Oh, and it's also the second game in the most important series of the year against our biggest rival in the middle of a pennant chase. Good seats still available!

When I googled the White Sox score tonight and saw 5-1 I couldn't help but hear, "Slip slidin' away" in my head.

I can't wait for Steve to give us an update on the Sox chances.

You gotta love seven unearned runs in two games. Any reason Teahen is still on this team??

Horrible pick up.

It wasn't a horrible pick up. It was horrible to sign him to a three year contract.

I tried to tell you guys that in the offseason but several people were convinced he was going to be a good pickup. His defense is brutal and his bat is not as good as some thought either.

The kicker of this is that on a 10 game road trip, the Sox have gone 7-2 so far and have lost 2 games. You can't ask for much more than a 7-3/8-2 road trip.

By the way, when John Danks once again attempts to delude himself into thinking he is currently an elite pitcher, let him look at his second half.

Had another oppurtunity to stand out in a big spot last night. I know its not all his fault, but the dominant pitchers pitch around mistakes.

Danks was crappy last night, but 2 runs in 2 games against the Tigers isn't gonna cut it.

Wait no more......The Twins reached their high water mark, with the win over Royals (to gain another sweep and 6th straight win) the Twins are now 26 games over the .500 mark. They are now on pace for 96 wins on the season with a .593 percentage FOR THE SEASON. To equal that win total (96) the Sox need to go 19-4 in their remaining 23 games.

Keyser, I predict Beckham and his sore hand will be back in the starting lineup as soon as tomorrow night when the Royals start the White Sox's longest homestand at U.S. Cellular Field. According to whitesox.com, they're starting a lefty for K.C., Bruce Chen, while Mark Buehrle starts the homestand for the Sox.

As for Brent Morel, it could be a sign of things to come, especially if the Sox continue to fizzle like a warm Pepsi out of pennant contention. I've seen enough of Mark Teahen and his miserable defense at third, and I think so has Ozzie. Unfortunately, why do they have Brent Lillibridge on this roster if Ozzie continues to play 43 year-old Omar Vizquel at second? Ranger mentioned something about options last night on the "Xfinity Postgame", but enough is enough! There's very little margin for error, even if Beckham's injured...

Ozzie's has to be questioned on this decision. Morel was doing a great job in the minors, but since being called up, he's done little besides keeping a seat warm. If they saw him as someone who was better suited to play 3rd down the stretch, they should have started him right away after being called up. Now, his timing might not be quite as sharp. Having Visquel at 3rd and Lillibridge at 2nd would seem a lot more sensible than inserting a rookie who's likely to be a bit tight in his first several games, and who's timing might not be real sharp.

Steve, if I were filling out the lineup, Omar Vizquel plays third, not second base and Brent Lillibridge plays second as long as Gordon Beckham remains sidelined. Defense is a premium on this ballclub, and Vizquel's value has been at third and Ozzie knows it. Ranger mentioned on the "Xfinity Postgame" last night after the loss that Lillibridge has been struggling at the plate lately and that Mark Teahen was in there in part not for his glove, but his bat. Needless to say, I've seen enough of Teahen at third, and he BETTER LEARN HOW TO PLAY SECOND AND/OR FIRST BASE if he's still on this ballclub. I don't want to see Teahen at third ever again! :x

Rick Porcello has made it look too easy through 2 innings & less than 17 pitches. WTF?!

When a team is facing a situation like the Sox are in where they NEED to win pretty much every game, the sense of urgency can create a lot of tension and anxiety. When a batter is anxious, he is less likely to be patient at the plate and as a result is more likely to GET HIMSELF OUT by swinging at pitches he can't do much/anything with, rather than working a count and trying to get a better pitch.

I always loved pitching against teams that were desperate, because I knew they would not be patient and would be even easier to retire.
