Well guys it was definitely fun this season, much more so than recent years. This team is just running out of steam (and time) and just doesn't have all the tools it needs to overcome the Twins. This series was a must win series and they failed.

Everyday DH picked up too late, losing Peavy and having mental midgets like Teahen and Floyd on this team are just a few things that made them come up short.

Anything can happen from now until the end of the regular season, but the Twins just seem to have "it" this year.

Hopefully Kenny and Ozzie have learned some things from this season for the future.

I think they are all very beatable. I would have much more confidence in Liriano, Duensing and Pavano that any of those guys. Scott Baker had wins in each of his last 5 decisions prior to his injury and if he's back on track, I like him over Burnett and maybe Vasquez too.

are you forgetting this isn't a pitcher vs. pitcher contest? i mean...the Twins offense, while good, would still be likely missing morneau. Dunesing and Pavano will have to face A-Rod, Jeter, Texiera, Cano, etc. etc. You can reasonably debate the starting pitchers but the fact is the Twins pitching staff will be facing a far more formidable offense than the Yankees pitchers will be vs. the Twins offense.

Morneau is not going to be rushed back before he's fully recovered from his concussion. Whether he's able to come back before the playoffs begin, nobody knows. However, with or without Morneau, the Yankees offense is superior. But pitching almost always is the biggest factor in a teams success in the post-season. The Yankees also, have a lot of power hitters, but don't do all the little things like bunting and hitting behind runners to advance someone, as well as the Twins. Little things can make a huge difference when 2 real good teams play each other. Against the Orioles, Indians, Royals and other lower level teams, the Yankees starters can win games by virtue of their offense scoring enough. But in the playoffs, all the teams can hit and it's usually the pitching that decides things. I'm sure the Yankees would be the favorites in a series between the two, but I would not be shocked if the Twins beat them.

While Ralph Houk did win eight (8) World Series titles as a player and manager, I would hardly compare him to The Lord Jesus Christ, who would definitely win the World Series every single year that He cared to do so.

They will make up at least one this weekend and then sweep the Twins.

Let me get this straight....In the next 7 days you predict the Sox will gain 4 games on the Twins. The Twins play the Indians in their next (3 games) series. the Sox will be facing the Royals (3 games), who were just swept by the Twins. Then the Twins will play the Sox in a 3 game series at U.S. Cellular. For the Sox to gain 4 games, they would have to sweep the series VS the Twins (the Twins are 8-4 against the Sox on the season) and in addition either sweep the Royals, with the Twins winning 2 of 3 vs the Indians, or win 2/3 from the Royals, while the Twins lose 2/3 to the Indians???    I'll give you 10-1 on that.

i think i've been in the Sox forum more this week than at any other time and I find it quite amusing that Steve has about 200 posts in here over that time. I checked the Cubs forum in the first 5 or 6 threads and didn't find anything. this from a guy w/ a Cubs avatar

He's a closet Sox fan. In fact, he's a fan of anything that has the word White in it.

Why are you in the Sox forum?? because there are more interesting topics being discussed here right now?? Because baseball on the North side stopped being of any real interest in spring training, when it was clear the team was not constructed properly?? Those are reasons I'm here more often. but if you look at the dates on my posts in the Cubs forum, you will find several in the past week.

Look at Steve trying to weasel his way out of a bet! You've gone after a few people here for not being willing to bet.

10-1 is actually really good odds for you. I'm not totally sure the math is right but 16-1 would be much more fair(5 total games have to go in Frank's favor over yours).

Because I'm a Sox fan? I'm pretty sure there's an MLB forum here for general discussion if that's what you'd like. Don't make it out like you come in here to offer your genius analysis...you come in here to stir shit and act like a prick. And I suppose you accomplish that, so bravo to you.

Yes I did and I'm confident I'll win the bet. If you look at the odds of a sweep in any series, they are not good. Against a team that has won 8/12 the chances for a sweep is truely remote. So lets say the Sox win 2/3 in their series (though I expect the Twins will take 2/3) that gets the Sox a single game closer, so now they are 5 back. That means for you to win the bet, the Sox would have to sweep the Royals, while the Twins would need to be swept by the Indians. It was really a suckers bet. You were a sucker to take the bet. But like many fans, you bet with your heart rather than your head. Your heart is gonna lose.

You've used very similar logic with others in regards to internet bets.

If I had made it more "substancial" you would never pay up. I'd have put up $10, but you never would have paid out $100.

So, I put up a dollar. I figured maybe you will have the balls to pony up a sawbuck if I win, but I doubt it.
