I just can't help but tip the cap to the entire Twins organization. Not just the players this year, but the front office, the minor league guys. It's like they have a never ending supply of players. I thought Danny Valencia was a no name guy to take over for Nick Punto, then Valencia goes down and Matt Tolbert comes in and bats .380 over the past 2 weeks with a bunch of triples. Who are these guys? Don't even have the time to breakdown the depth of the pitching with all the injuries.
Sox have nothing to be ashamed of, they are just getting beat by a better organization.

Well said and I'll take the Twins over the NEXT 10 years.

So you aren't a Cubs fan anymore? You're a Twins fan now?

IF the Twins clinch, I will tip the ole cap. Nothing until then.

The Twins have NEVER lost the division title since they've been playing at Target Field, and it doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.

Then pray for them to play the Yankees. 2-17 record over the last 2 years (including playoffs).

Ten years ago, everyone said this about the Oakland A's. The good times don't last forever for "model franchises".

Terrible comparison

How much of the current organization was around in 1991?

It's not like the Twins have to go to far back in the memory bank to remember World Championships.

There is always a team that supposedly runs things better and is "smarter" than most of the other teams. That seems to be the Twins now.

The Twins were a model franchise in the 80s and early 90s when they had real success and not simply a track record of winning divisions at a good rate.

I tip my cap to the Twins and hope they win the World Series this year. I have enough friends and family in Minnesota to justify it as more than Sox antipathy, though there's always plenty of that to go around. This is really for the better; October is a happier place without one of baseball's more loathsome organizations.

What difference does this make tho? How many of the current Sox were around 10 years ago?

They last won a World Championship 5 years after the Bears last did. I can't consider that relevant to the current judgement of the Bears organization.

Thats the A's youre describing.

A better comparions for the Twins would be the Cardinals
Consistent winners, great devolopment, almost Always competitive, and wins its share of World Series'

Many of the current Sox players have been around for a really long time. Kenny Williams has been here for 10 years. Ozzie has been here for 7 years. It's certainly a lot more relevant of a timeframe than 25 years where pretty much every team has seen a turnover of almost all staff besides ownership. The original quote said "better organization". My point was that for the past 10 years the Sox have been a better organization in my mind.

The Cardinals have a title in recent history. I was 9 when the Twins last won a title. 1991 is a long time ago.

If you're citing Omar Vizquel, you're cheating.

Sure for the past 10 years they have been probably. But it is also just as true that for the past 25 years the Twins have been. Not sure why that is hard to see. Seems like you are really stretching to make your point.

Please read my first post in this thread. I am defending that statement.

Of course the Twins have been better over the past 25 years. I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing whether 1991 is relevant to 2010. In terms of who is the better organization it's not. If we extend it to 30 years, all of a sudden the Royals are a "better organization" and I don't see anyone thinking that.

I think both are pretty comparable. Both teams have had a good amount of success for smaller market teams and they just always seem to be good teams even when you think this will be the year they won't be.

If that makes you feel better for how insensitive you were toward the Twins in your first post then go for it.

The thread was intended to give praise to the Minnesota Twins, for the outstanding season they are putting together and the manner in which their organization operates. It has become a discussion instead of what team has the best run organization. The Twins are about to win back to back Central division Titles. They are so deep, that even the loss of Morneau has not slowed them down. They have brought up positional players as well as pitchers at key times in the season when they had injuries to players (Punto, Baker, Thome, Hudson, as well as Morneau) that could have sent them into a tailspin. Instead, the players performed as well, or better than the players they were replacing. Their hold on the Central division looks like it could rival the 14 year hold Atlanta had in the N.L. East not so long ago.
