Not a bad start for Persa.

Dan Persa has regained his spot, albeit shared, as the nation’s #1 ranked QB in passer efficiency (along with OSU’s Brandon Weeden). He is also tops in completion percentage (80.2%) and among the leaders in total passing yards. Listening to Rivals Radio on the way in this morning. Bill King referred to Dan Persa as the best quarterback no one is talking about... despite not facing "murderer's row" in the first four weeks. His main quote was:

"His stats line is sick"

Here's some other stuff I found on LTP... clearly statistics designed to make you see purple. Since the start of the 2008 season….
■In the Big Ten, only Ohio State (24-4) and Penn State (24-4) have better regular season records than Northwestern (21-7) (note: tied with Iowa at 21-7 during that span).
■Only Ohio State (14-2), Penn State (13-3) and Iowa (11-5) have better Big Ten conference game records than NU (10-6) (note: NU tied with MSU at 10-6).
■Northwestern has won 9 road games – more than any other Big Ten team.
■The 9 road wins is tied with Texas and Florida for 9th in the BCS during that span.
■Northwestern has the 9th best road record (9-3. .750) during that span, only Ohio State’s is better in the Big Ten.

Other statistical garbage I found on that site
■NU’s current 7-game regular season winning streak is the longest since 1995 when they won 9 straight.
■NU has scored in double-digits in 38 consecutive games
■NU has AVERAGED more than 400 ypg of offense since 2000!
■NU’s pass efficiency is #1 in the Big Ten and 3rd nationally
■The ‘Cats have won 8 straight home non-conference games – the longest streak since the late 50s/early 60s
■NU has not trailed at any point in any game in 2010.

Is it possible to feel measurably worse after every successive win? Not only do we squeak by a bs Minnesota team, but our other close wins look pretty pathetic (Vandy just got beat by 20 points by Uconn and CMU lost to friggin Ball State). NU lacks discipline as we are getting hammered by stupid penalties. And we're turning the ball over way too much in the red zone.

With 2 weeks to gameplan, I think Purdue is looking at the tilt in Evanston as very winnable.

Well we finally know that Northwestern is officially not a good team. Carry on.

You can't lose a Big Ten game at home and expect to compete for a national championship.

You can't make a bowl game without winning a sixth game, either.

You think they will lose all of their remaining games? Even the one against the fighting Dr. Kens?

I thought they go 6-6 before the game. Now I think they go 5-7. They were an awful personal foul away from potentially losing at Vanderbilt. Central Michigan is just an OK MAC team this year. They snuck by the worst team in the Big Ten by one point, then lost to the second worst at home. Where are the remaining wins? They go to Indiana; they have a chance there, but they'll be underdogs. Maybe Penn State, though once again, that's on the road. If the Wrigley Field game were played next week, Illinois would be favored be more than a TD.

Congrats to parlaying a shitty OOC to a respectable record and a top 25 ranking, Northwestern. Now you have to start beating real teams.

Wish I could argue with you, IB. But the Cats looked absolutely awful. We may not win another game.

Joliet Catholic junior running back Malin Jones orally committed to play for Northwestern.

Jones plays running back and linebacker and I heard he projects as a safety at the next level. Jones is big, strong, fast and runs with bad intentions. I think that projection may change next year when he's the featured back. Either way THE CATS! are getting a hell of a football player.

Awesome get. I love keeping the local guys... and god knows we need a RB. Watched a bit of his video and he is powerful runner, but runs waaaay too upright. He'll get sawed in half if he tries that at the next level. The same is true of alot of HS players, but this kid is smart... he'll learn.

Highlight video (which is kinda funny because he's not even finished with his junior year). Love those tunes...

Seriously, all these videos are kind of a joke (even beyond the bad production value). More often than not they aren't run at real-time speed, which makes evaluation kind of impossible. And fading in with black and white with crazy transitions is just silly. But whatever gets you on Survivor I guess...
