The question after the WS was how long the warm glow of the victory would last for the team. It probably ended last year. However, you can say with certainty that it ends now. 4-5 years.

I started getting impatient in 1911.

I think this was Kenny's worst offseason to date.

Ozzie has made a lot of questionable move this year, but I also think he got a lot more wins out of this team than they had the talent level for.

True on both counts. Blaming the coach for decisions that are within the GMs job description should be a firable offense. Teahan...really?

You give Ozzie a washed up, grindy veteran and you know he is going to start/overuse him. He's done it for the past half decade. So don't supply him with such a guy.

You watch, the Sox will re sign Vizquel. Ozzie will start him at third all year and he will hit .250.

As average as I think Ozzie is, he got more wins out of this group than I projected.

right

i thought the Sox would be just as bad as last year when they started signing these retread veterans who were at the end of their careers

Andruw Jones, Vizquel, Kotsay, Juann Pierre

All those guys plus Teahan minus Kotsay have had really good years and gotten clutch hits for us

I don't want anyone gone but if someone has to go it's definitley Ozzie. WS winning managers are easier to find than a WS winning GM. There's a WS winning manager rotting away in the Cubs broadcast booth and Ozzie, LaRussa, Girardi and Torre could all be relocating this offseason.

Are any WS winning GM's going to be fired after the season? Cashman? Theo? Amaro? Dombrowski? Hell no. St Louis got rid of Walt Jocketty and do you think they are regretting that decision (Cincy sure is happy about it)? IF a change is going to be made it has to be in the dugout.

No Kenny just signed whistler to finish out the rest of the season on the south side

the most logical move is Williams getting bumped up the heirarchy with Hahn taking over as GM

Ok. But Jerry has the veto power. Plus, it has been stated that Ozzie has more of Jerry's ear than Kenny does. I know the GM has to make the personnel decisions but what happened with Thome and who knows who else. It seems to me, and I may be wrong, that the chain of command is a little messed up right now.

Like the Bulls did with Paxson? What good will that do?

The edit function sucks.

My biggest complaint with Ozzie is he seems more worried about winning tomorrow's game rather than today's game. There is zero sense of urgency with this team and that all starts with him.

-Keep Kenny out of the public eye and (for the most part) out of Ozzie's office
-Still gives Kenny the input on deals and signings
-Might take away some of the power he has to make deals
i.e., getting Tehean= not too bad. Signing him for 3 years= bad.
-Ozzie also had to deal with a bad and oft injured/"unavailable" Jenks this season. Give a manager a bad bullpen and thats the best way to make a manager look bad.

I don't see anything on that list that makes the organization better.

Maybe the bullpen wore down because of the way the manager used them?

His qoute before yesterdays ass-fucking of the Sox by the Twins raised my brow a bit

"No, we don't need to sweep because, ya knooow, the puts a lot of pressure on the players."

Everybody in that pen sucked right after the break. How many times was Jenks not available, so Ozzie HAD to use somebody else? Christ, the fucking kid they drafted THIS YEAR is in thier bullpen because Ozzie needed another dependable arm. They also have a shortstop in the pen.

Both very good moves by the general manager.

I said I don't want to see any changes but IF a change is going to be made it's an absolute no brainer Ozzie goes before Kenny.

Both are also lightining in a bottle moves. Sale and Santos have both been godsends in that pen.

You also have to give Ozzie a ton of credit for using both Santos and Sale in tough situations.

Lightining in a bottle moves which were available to 29 other teams in Santos' case and 12 teams in Sale's case if they had the knowledge and balls to make them.

Ozzie and Kenny have their lips planted firmly on Reinsdorf's rear end. So no moves will be forthcoming unless\until there is a string of disastrous seasons, like what happened eventually with Krause and the Bulls. And Krause is back working with the White Sox. There is a type of individual Reinsdorf can't get enough of - the sychophant.

Ozzie's record in one of the most important months, August, is putrid. Bring me any of the following managers:

1.) Gardy
2.) Joe Maddon
3.) Mike Scoscia

Also, promote/terminate Kenny and bring me the following GM's

1.) Theo Epstein
2.) Rick Hahn
3.) Andrew Friedman

Final thought, do the Sox need to hit rock bottom in order to get better? Treading water at .500 and a bit above has not improved this team greatly.

I think that is precisely what Reinsdorf has calculated - that treading water is enough to keep the club profitable. However, I believe that calculation is based on a pre-recession economy - I'm not sure if its still valid. I think Reinsdorf would move\sell the team if the economy doesn't get better. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next 5 or 10 years Chicago becomes a one baseball team town.

Where, exactly, could the White Sox move?
Havana, Cuba?
Honolulu?

Maybe when the Cubs move to the former site of Arlington Park.
