They might be back but not in the same positions. Kenny could end up with a Paxson like Job and Rick Hanh starts doing the work as GM. Hahn starts dealing with Ozzie and Kenny sits in the office.

This has a 2 fold effect.

1. Seperates Kenny and Ozzie.
2. Leaves a President "Kenny" in place for when Jerry starts turning the powers over to Mike and Jon, his sons.

I know everyone talks about Kenny's desire to win and how he would leave and go other places. Maybe that is true, but I also know enough about Kenny that he is not walking away from a 7 figure desk job!!!!!!

the mets wouldn't pay him 7 figures ?? plus he'll have more payroll, and i don't belive his ego will allow him just to be a desk jockey at this point. Kenny would love NY, and still He'll still get to be in charge of the 2 nd most talked bout baseball team in town.....

I think Ozzie bolts. He's a very family oriented guy and was disgusted at how the Sox treated his family. Jerry will make an appeal for him to stay and that might be enough.

I think Ozzie is under contract for next season. That said, why would you want a manager that doesn't want to be there. One possible scenario has LaRussa returning to the Sox and Ozzie heading to the Marlins. That would leave the Cardinals gig open for Sandberg.

I think kenny will be back. Ozzie is less of a sure thing. His son Oney's habit of bad-mouthing Sox management could be looked at as an extension of Ozzie's true feelings and perhaps Jerry decides it's time for a change there. if so, the idea of bringing Thome back, probably becomes more likely. Either way, I doubt that will happen, but it would be more likely if Ozzie was gone. I like ozzie and believe he's a good manager. but the stle of play he wants to employ, is not the kind that their Ballpark is best suited for. Maybe a change would be best for all concerned.

If the Marlins owner was such a meddling douche then I would think it would be a nice change of pace for Ozzie to go there, but that guy is a bitch and a half to deal with. There are many jobs that could still be open come seasons end, such as the cardinals, brewers, pirates ( ha.... i just realized dusty may be the only manager in his division with a secure job)

I don't think anyone should go. This year was a mediocre year, for the most part. Teams have bad years, managers have bad years and GMs have bad years.

The Sock will rue the day if they do not give this mix at least one more year.

C - AJ, I have to think they will work something out, perhaps another 1 year deal with an option depending on performance for about $5 million a season. Depending on what they do with AJ will tell us what they think of Tyler Flowers. They could let AJ go, resign Castro for 1 year, 1 million, and have a rotation at catcher next season (or sign some other veteran backup to go with Flowers). This probably depends on how much flexibility they have with their payroll, but I'd prefer to retain AJ for at least one more season.

1B - Again, it probably comes down to Paul Konerko's desire to stay in Chicago on a 2 year deal (maybe 3 with an option) at less than what he is making now ($12 million per). There will probably be a team on the market who is willing to pay more than what the White Sox are offering, and maybe more years so Konerko will have a choice to make here. Again, I'd prefer to sign him to a 2 year, $20 milllion deal, perhaps making him a DH in the 2nd year although he's still pretty solid at 1B.

2B - G.Beckham

3B - I lean to giving this to Morel. They already gave $5 million to Teahan and he's not a starting player. As a utility guy, I'm ok with him, and Guillen will find ways to get him on the field 3 or 4 times a week at 3B, 2B, and RF. As for Morel, he's already considered to be a good defensive player so that would be an improvement over this season already.

SS - A.Ramirez

LF - J.Pierre (although it would be nice to find a late inning replacement for him).

CF - A.Rios

RF - Unknown. Carlos Quentin will hit 20-30 HR, but will also be extremely inconsistent, and injury prone. My guess is that Williams will look to move him in the trade market, perhaps for another OF or just for younger pieces for the future. I don't see the White Sox spending much money in free agency and Williams often fills holes via trades so I think it's either Quentin or some other veteran player who may be in a similar position on another club.

DH - Unknown. This would be the one area where the White Sox can obviously improve offensively. It's possible that Quentin slides into this role to keep him focused on only hitting, but they need to fill this hole with a 20+ HR guy who can bat 5th or 6th in the lineup.

SP - This staff doesn't have a #1 starter, and it may not have a #2 starter. I see a bunch of #3 type starters - Danks, Floyd, Buerhle, Jackson and Peavy make a solid rotation, each guy is capable of shutting down the opposition on any given day, but just as easily, can give up 6 ER in 5 IP. Peavy will probably be brought back slowly so I don't expect him to be ready until at least May, perhaps June although the projects appear more optimistic. He needs to brought back slowly though given the injury and money owed. There has been some thought that they move either Buehrle or Jackson in the last years of their contracts for younger talent, and use the money to either re-sign Konerko or add another offensive player, and with Chris Sale getting experience this year, there's a good chance that they could go this route, and fill an opening with him. Freddy Garcia could still be brought back as well, but I have little interest in this idea.

RP - Bobby Jenks will not be back. He's due to make $7 or $8 million next season. Who's the closer? It could be JJ Putz, assuming they resign him. They could decide on giving the closing role on either Santos or Sale as well. Thornton will be in his setup role, but this bullpen was burnt out by August so Ozzie will need to either find more rest along with the way for his key guys or work in more of his other bullpen options.

From what I've seen of Sale, I say keep him in the bullpen. He looks like a guy that has pitched out of the pen for 4 years already. He could end up being one of the dominant closers in the league.

I can't really argue with anything they decide to do with him. I believe the plan was to make him a starting pitcher, but there could be an opening at closer as well depending on if they think Putz or Santos will take that job. I'm also not against trading Jackson while he has pitched pretty well until recently. With the one year deal, they may be able to get a couple of good pieces in return for him. Of course, this could be a risky strategy because if Peavy doesn't round into form, the backend of the rotation could turn into a weakness.

I hope they make Sale a starter. He isn't even throwing his 2nd best pitch (changeup) because he doesn't need it in the bullpen. He'll probably have to pitch at least half the season in triple A but it will be worth it in the long run because he has the ability to be an absolutely dominating starting pitcher.

Aardsma was already on the Sox. He was traded to the Sox for Neal Cotts.

What else you got for us, wonderboy?

I think they will be quite a few White Sox who won't be back in the silver & black. I think we've seen the last of both 1B Paul Konerko & C A.J. Pierzynski in White Sox uniforms. The Sox tried to re-sign Pierzynski before this season and it didn't come to fruition. As for Konerko, I'm not so sure the Sox will be able to afford him, especially if some team offers Paulie the kind of offer that the Southsiders can't nearly match. Two guys I think will be dealt are closer Bob Jenks & RF Carlos Quentin. Finally, 3B/2B Omar Vizquel will put that #11 back in mothballs where it belongs!

I'm pretty sure Tyler Flowers has already been passed by Josh Phegley.

Phegley is at least a year away. Best case scenario is the Sox offer AJ arbitration and he accepts. Move Flowers into Castro's role and give Phegley another year in the minors.

I'd like to see Morel win the 3B job and Vizquel brought back as a backup.

 If the people in Seattle (where he came up in MLB) had been this stupid, Randy Johnson may have been a closer.

You're an idiot.

Jenks, Kotsay, Jones, Manny, Vizquel, are Garcia all gone. AJ should be. If he cant hit he has no value. He cant hit anymore. I think Konerko and CQ will be back splitting the DH and letting Teahen fill in for either in the field at RF, 1B, 3B, 2B and LF. He'll get at bats being a lefty. Still need a bopper and my dark horse his Chipper Jones. I know he's about done but he's a switch hitter and he played in Atlanta when Ozzie was there and he should be cheap. Just a hunch. Sale should be in the rotation ASAP. Let Santos close games until he cant. He has a lively arm and my be the future. Catcher and 3B are the problems along with true number one starter. Like to to see Lilly added to the rotation.
