Yes he was no doubt an awesome runner, I just question his helpfulness to the team. One of the greatest backs in the game is off the field in short yardage situations.

I seem to remember a playoff game in Green Bay, where they held Sanders to very few yards--he may have ended up negative for the game. There were a number of games like that against the Bears in the Silver Stretch days where they would contain him for most of the game, then he would rip off a 75-yard run and a TD.

i don't recall Barry having much of an offensive line. so, i'd take 2, 5, -3, 7, 4, 89, 5, 10 23, -6, all day....

Can you imagine an offense with Barry Sanders at RB and Rex Grossman at QB? Every play would be a touchdown.

he would have shattered Payton's record if he didn't leave in his prime. He would have rushed for 20,000 yards if he played in Dallas

I think he would have bested Payton even in Detroit if they did not play the gimmick offense for several years. I remember teams setting up eight in the box and he still got his yards.

THE POINT IS YOU NEED GREAT BLOCKERS,IN MOST CASES TO BE A GREAT BACK, THAT IS NOT A BAD THING,AND MOST OF YOU EMMIT HATERS SOUND LIKE THOSE YANKEES FANS BACK IN 61 WHO WANTED MANTLE TO BREAK RUTH'S HOMERUN RECORD INSTEAD OF MARIS BECAUSE HE WAS THE YANKS GOLDEN BOY,AND MARIS WAS SOMETHING OF A FREAKSHOW BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY OF THE CHARISMA THAT MANTLE OR RUTH HAD :x

 With Barry Sanders and a good O-line you don't even need a quarterback. He would make Jonathan Quinn look like Dan Marino.

If Quinn would be that much better, what would Barry and a good O-line make Scott Mitchell look like? The lovechild of John Elway and Jesus Christ?

Yes. A good O-line is very important though.

Actually I more or less agreed with you, though I couldn't pass up some exaggeration.

QB is really important, too. I'm inclined to put Payton and Sanders very high on my list just on account of the junk they played with.

1. Payton
2. Sanders
3. Brown
4. Emmit
5. Dickerson

The five spot is the hardest for me to judge. In some ways, it doesn't matter, since I'm pretty sure LT is taking one of the top five spots in the next 3-4 years.

Terell Davis would have murdered the all time yards record if he would have been able to stay healthy.
