The Sox have already tried 2 old Braves, and how has that worked?

 If the people in Seattle (where he came up in MLB) had been this stupid, Randy Johnson may have been a closer.

yeah, like turning Joba Chamberlain into a starter- that worked out great

I think Ozzie is under contract for next season. That said, why would you want a manager that doesn't want to be there. One possible scenario has LaRussa returning to the Sox and Ozzie heading to the Marlins.

I just heard that this may actually happen, according to Ken Rosenthal's guy...

Reds manager Dusty Baker could be another candidate for the White Sox if Guillen departed. The Reds are expected to sign Baker to a multi-year extension, but the two sides have yet to reach agreement.

I want nothing to do with Dusty Baker. If he couldn't be trusted as the Cubs' manager, what makes you think he can be trusted with the White Sox?

This team has quit, and I got a feeling Ozzie will end up getting the blame for this.

Big fucking deal, Franklin. It's easy to win when all the pressure is off, look at the Cub under Quade.

I'm starting to think Guillen may take his talents to South Beach

So you're saying we're still in danger of him managing here?

Kenny says today, that if Ozzie were to let he and Reinsdorf know that he wanted to pursue an opportunity to manage elsewhere, they would allow him to do that. he gone......

I wouldn't make that leap. What is Kenny supposed to say? "No. We are forcing him to stay even though he won't want to be here and won't manage for shit and our team will suck in 2011 and we will pay him a ton of dough for the privilege".

Kenny's response was logical and appropriate to the situation.

If Ozzie does ask to pursue something else, then you can start jumping to conclusions.

Of course, the Cubs appear to be an unstoppable force heading into 2011, so why would you even concern yourself with this annoying bit of soap opera?

I think Kenny was sending Ozzie the message that he wouldn't mind him leaving. Ozzie has a lot of pride and if he feels unappreciated, he might go pursue other openings. If he does leave, Kenny gets rid of him (which I think he would love) and doesn't have to fire him and pay him for 2011 AND avoids fan backlash too. Ozzie would be the bad guy instead for having chosen to leave.

Fan backlash SHOULD go on Kenny. Ozzie was far from perfect, but I've said many times I think he got a lot more wins out of this club than they had the talent level for.

Kind of like the final Torre situation in New York. Torre asked for a 2 year deal because he didn't want to have to answer questions all year about whether he was coming back or not. He told the Yankees they could make it a club option and not exercise it if they wanted to. But they refused. I think this is Kenny's way of saying "you're one and done, brother." How can you exercise his option in 2012 with a comment like that?

How many times has Ozzie talked about leaving since he's been here? Even during the World Series year he was saying it. Eventually, you grant someone his wish.

I'll always be thankful for what he has done here but outside of a few managers you don't last 10+ years. This is accelerated when that manager constantly tells the media how he is tired of it here and may just quit/be fired.

I think thats just Ozzie though. I really don't think he means a lot of what he says at certain times.

I'm still having a lot of trouble picturing him wearing what's supposed to be the retired #11, but Omar Vizquel looks like he's still having a lot of fun at age 43, playing a solid second base vs. righties while Gordon Beckham's been sidelined with the sore right hand as well as playing a solid third base before the September call-up of Brent Morel at Triple "A" Charlotte. I wouldn't be shocked if Vizquel comes back, but I urge Omar to WEAR A DIFFERENT NUMBER if he does sport the White Sox silver & black again! What was wrong with #17? Correct me if I'm wrong, but now that Jayson Nix plays in Cleveland, isn't #5 available? I'm just sayin'...

Where are Elmhurst Steve's Twins updates?

I need to know how many games they are ahead of the Sox and what their odds of winning the division are at this point.

Very classy move by the Ozzaroo to take Paulie out like that so he can get the ovation he deserves.
