24-20.

Fire Danny Hope.

That touchdown which was basically handed to Toledo when Marve destroyed his knee could be the difference.

*sigh*

It was good to see a better effort in the second half but a game like this really makes you question the direction of the program.

Even as an optimist I have hard time making a case why things will suddenly get better. A fresh start may be needed. I guess we'll see how the rest of the year goes.

All post-game comments seem to indicate that Robert Marve is done for the year. I've got to be honest. He may never start another game for them. I don't see much point in having him play for one year when we have younger players who deserve a chance. Rob Henry is still raw but I think he's got a lot of potential. Sean Robinson is redshirting this year but he's the most highly touted QB on the team coming out of college and he has four more years left to play.

Good riddance. That pretty boy douche should be selling used cars in Tampa after all the chances he blew on his own, regardless of injuries.

I am thinking Marve is done for the year, I did want to see what he could do at Purdue this season and next, but if it's a lingering injury, if Marve did play you could see it next year. The backup they did have was suspended for the season in Caleb Terbush, he should be back next season.

On Danny Hope, I did hear Teddy Greenstein say about Purdue going into last season, he should struggle for 2 years and then look out, because of all the guys he had coming in. I think Hope will be coaching Purdue next year, but the idea of Leach doesn't sound too bad, but would Purdue spend the money to get a big time coach, they got Hope from Eastern Kentucky, the other guy there was talk about was Paul Chryst, the Wisconsin Offensvie Coordinator. Not a school that goes for guys people have heard of, I have heard of Leach and Sumlin.

The game against Toledo was the least attended game since 1996. The program is clearly in a funk. That's the exact kind of thing that can cause the administration to act.

I wouldn't be shocked if there were big changes if this team doesn't make a bowl game.

Rick, is that more on the opponent than how Purdue looks right now, I remember when Brees was there, all there home games weren't sellouts. I will agree that does cause an adminstration to act, but to me it seems they never think big time there and maybe Purdue will never be a big-time football program, but they go to the lower level for head coaches. Mike Leach would be a big name to bring in, but I don;t think they would do that, because of the money they would have to pay for him, I think he would bring in so much money, it would be worth it.

On the attendance, You have probably heard this, but before the season they were on this, because Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State don't come there, but I think if they scheduled more decent out of confernce teams. You can't schedule a Vanderbilt or Washington State, teams you can beat and people have heard of, but you schedule Western Illinois, Ball State which maybe okay because it's a local, and Toledo. Not the big names, and people were complaining they will be out of town for Thanksgiving, so they can't go to Indiana-Purdue since it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. To me, Purdue should be embarrased if that's the reason people can't make the game, I seen last year after Alabama-Auburn was the day after Thanksgiving and those people showed, a bigger rivalry, still people should still show for the Oaken Bucket game.

There needn't be any more speculation. Marve is officially done for the year instead of probably.

Geeeeez. Purdue can't catch a break this year. They had some of the most dynamic skill position players in the Big 10 this year... and now look at them. BR... hopefully you'll still be in full effect for the NU tailgate.

I hear BRick is starting a silent protest in regard to the Boilers this year. I am in full support of this. Boiler Down!

I'll be there. I'm looking forward to it.

I just hope the team doesn't quit. I don't think they will.

Just read that Purdue WR Justin Siller is out for an 'extended' period with a sprained foot. Not sure of it was a reliable source, but if true... It's pouring in West Lafeyette.

Yeah, things are looking worse and worse out there. Things could go very bad this season. If so, don't be surprised if there are major changes.

Opening line is 10... NU isn't comfortable being the favorite, particularly a double digit one. Fortunately, you guys will have 2 weeks to gameplan with the new crew. NU is the worst 5-0 team in the country right now (right up there with LSU), so this game is still likely to be a good game in my opinion.

They are also the worst ranked team in the country, but I'll take it!

Big 10 now has six teams ranked in top 25.

The only hope I have is that this game is a season saving game for Purdue. If they don't win, then they are relegated to spoiler for the rest of the season. They should give it a good effort but NU just has too much talent for them right now.

That was a season saving win on Saturday. I'm glad they didn't quit. I still question Danny Hope on a lot of things but he does seem to be a pretty good motivator. I still think they've got two probable wins against Minnesota and IU. Minnesota is just terrible. IU hasn't won at Purdue since the mid 90s and most of the time it's not even close. We may even have some of our playmakers back by then as Ralph Bolden still has yet to be officially ruled out for the season, and Siller should be back.

That means that they have to find one more win to make a bowl game, which would be a good small step for the program. It won't be Ohio State who is going to punish them. It won't be Wisconsin because Wisconsin will overpower them like they always do.

That leaves @Illinois, which looks like it will be much harder but not impossible.
Michigan, who Purdue has beat two straight times and is vulnerable.
Michigan State, who is only on here because Purdue-MSU games always seem to be strange and the inferior team ends up competitive oftentimes.

Michigan seems to be the best shot though obviously they have offensive firepower that is hard to stop.

It looks like a 5-7 season though.

Strictly due to the fact that I haven't been able to watch as much Big 10 football as I usually do, would your opinion be any different if Robert Marve were still healthy?

I was at the game the last time they won there, I want to say it was '94 maybe? Been a long time.

It wouldn't make much of a difference, but would likely include something that said "If Marve starts to meet the hype surrounding him" we could be much better. However, that would be like saying "If Rob Henry becomes Drew Brees" we could be much better.

From what I saw he's not the game changing QB that we had hoped for.

They won there in both 1994 and 1996.

Ok thats right. I was at every bucket game from 93 to 97. I would love to get back to one, always a fun time even if it is bad football most of the time.

That's actually another good point.

That was the last "rivalry" game with Northwestern. Sorry Mud and NSJ and cubbiegirlshamus. It looks like Purdue officially won the "rivalry".

Looks like Henry will be out for awhile, it was the lead story on the Lafayette news last night, laceration to the finger, so Purdue could be down to the 4th string quarterback next week.

I guess it's just going to be one of those types of seasons.

There is still no excuse for what happened on Saturday. I even went into the game expecting a big Ohio State win but that was a pathetic performance and exposes just where the program actually is. When you have a QB who isn't a throwing threat a really good team like Ohio State can take advantage of that.

I think they'll bounce back well against Illinois as they have to beat Illinois or Michigan and Indiana to make a bad bowl game. Illinois looks pretty solid though but Purdue should blow out Indiana this season also.
