He made a lot of claims and disseminated a lot of stuff and was, in the end, proven wrong about the eventual end game. He did his best to smear Kenny while trying to at least appear professional and unbiased....and he also did a great job of sucking Oney Guillens dong as much as he could.

Why does Cowley have a grudge against Kenny Williams while he otherwise goes out of his way to make the White Sox look good to the point where people ask if he's on the payroll? The same Joe Cowley that works for White Sox radio and and says that Jerry Reinsdorf is one of the best team owners in American sport? What's his beef with one guy in an organization he otherwise adores?

Cowley was right that Kenny asked to fire Ozzie, that I am 100% sure of. Kenny was told no.

If I was "Rich" as Ozzie has said he was, I am not coming back to work for a guy that wanted me fired.

End story, Ozzies bluff was called and he folded, pretty disappointing for the big talking muchacho.

Because Kenny won't talk to him. Reporters don't care what you say as long as you say it. Ditka could be as rude as he wanted but the writers still loved him because he wrote their stories for them. It's silence they can't countenance.

That is what shows Cowley's bias in this chapter of the story. This should have been portrayed as an embarrassing moment for Ozzie.

everybody likes to paint things in black and white...."ozzie folded".....ozzie could have quit and lined up a better financial scenario for himself....either straight into another manager job or on tv for a while and then back into managing. there are going to be a bunch of manager openings this winter. ozzie would easily get one, even if from a team that is just looking for some PR. a nice 3-4 year deal.

but he decided to stay on a 1-2 year deal with a declining team up against a self-imposed salary cap. why did he decide to stay?

I have heard this "tv opportunity" theory repeated several times. What English speaking outlet would hire him for a full time job. He is rarely understandable. He has a gravely tone. He is likely to say something that will embarass his bosses and will be unapologetic. Even further, some in the press like to act like Ozzie is beloved by sox fans and that they are drawn to him. It seems from my review of sites and comments about ozzie, fandom is split about him.

Agree, while I like Cowleys alleged no allegiance style, it's pretty obvious he listens to Ozzie.
