The Michigan win was big. It's clear they are better this year.

His biggest problem will be that IU fans may not be patient enough. They aren't going to the NCAA tournament this year and it won't be guaranteed for next year. They are improving but the Big Ten is so tough now that it will take a while. I do imagine that they'll find a way to beat a few teams they shouldn't especially at home.

Yeah that Michigan win was big and the Pittsburgh win is looking bigger and bigger considering they are 12-2 and just went to Syracuse and gave the Orange their first loss.

Yeah IU fans are pretty impatient, but my feeling is that they are going to be somewhat patient with him after the Sampson mess. I think most of the IU fans realize this team is not going to the tourney this year. Now next year is a whole different story, if they miss the tourney next year, the heat will definitely get turned on full blast. Personally I think they get back to the tourney next year and in 2-3 years will be back challenging for the Big 10 year in and year out.

RFDC - I think you are right on in your thoughts here. I think we are willing to be patient with Crean because of the ridiculous mess he was left by the pud Samson. I'm still embarassed that we hired someone with a track record like Samson in the first place. Crean runs a clean program and has been fairly successful as well - I think he was the right hire.

I think most realistic IU fans realize that we are most likely 2 years away from making a decent run in the NCAA.

Thanks. I didn't expect it to be that easy. Big Ten season should be interesting. I think they are by far the favorite but it's never easy.

No doubt I think they are the favorites this year.

I am interested in seeing if IU can knock off a couple of the favorites this year and continue to make some progress. I really like what Crean is doing there.

Speaking of Tom Crean...he is Jim Harbaughs Brother in Law!

It's time for the first official meeting of the year. After beating out golden boy Brady Quinn and the REAL Touchdown Jesus Tim Tebow, Kyle Orton has once again solidified himself as one of the premier passers of our generation. Even with the loss of Brandon Marshall, who was responsible for 105% of Orton's production last year, he is still putting up big numbers.

In the most interesting stat ever created, Orton shows just how dominant he has been.
Quote:
Broncos PR agent Patrick Smyth adds that Orton leads the NFL in both passing yards (1,033) and 25-yard passes (12) in that three-week span that includes Week 17 of last year.

Thank you Kyle Orton for being you.

Looked like Orton played a hell of a game yesterday. I like the guy and hope he does well but I wonder if this will be a repeat of last year where they look like a serious playoff team in the 1st half of the season then choke it away in the 2nd

It's not too late to sign up. Yeah, you are kind of a bandwagon jumper. However, you will be welcomed with open arms. Kyle Orton is not vengeful unless you are an opposing defense.
http://www.sfexaminer.com/sports/orton-throws-2-tds-as-broncos-beat-titans-26-20-104276633.html

Leading the league in passing yards and being awesome.

Conservative estimates have him passing for nearly 6,000 yards this season.

I missed this thread the first time around, but my Fantasy Football team's name used to be Kyle Orton's Neck Beard, and I do infact excel at growing one myself. I've also actively picked Kyle Orton every week in the Kyle Orton QB contest, instead of just taking the default.

I cant believe Orton leads the NFL in passing yards with 1,419 & is on pace to throw for 5,676 yards!

Wait just a minute here. Didn't you know that his increase in production last year was simply because he had Brandon Marshall to throw to? He also was accused of nearly ruining the career of Eddie Royal.

I am more and more inclined to believe that you prefer days like yesterday (Orton good, Cutler bad) so that you can be right.

I will always root for the Bears QB(and all the other players). I will always root for Drew Brees. I will always root for Kyle Orton. I will always root for Ray Edwards.

As long as the above are not in conflict then I can have a rooting interest in all of them. Believe it if you want. I want all four above to have great seasons.

You make an official request for membership, with a way that Kyle Orton has affected your life, and you will be added to the roster and be signed up for the daily PM sent at 8am in the morning daily all year round.

 I've moved on. Rob Henry gets a tryout this year and if he doesn't improve it's time for the next era in Purdue football.

The Sean Robinson era.

Brick, I would like to apply for membership. My credentials include generally having a neck beard because I'm too lazy to shave most of the time, an affinity for Jack Daniels, and booing Rex Grossman from my living room that night he replaced Kyle Orton against Atlanta. I am even willing to go back to referring to my FF team as Kyle Orton's Neck Beard.

In.

Remember all those people said that he had no arm strength? Remember that they said he is a "system QB"? Remember that they said he can't throw it past 15 yards? I insult those people with multiple smilies!

remember 2005 when orton first came up and his MO was to consistently throw balls 5 feet over the heads of wide open receivers?

good times, man.... good times indeed. we didn't know how good we had it back then (meaning that we had a defense whose down years were being middle of the pack for points and still in the upper 1/2 to 1/3 in terms of turnovers) and in fairness to kyle orton, he wasn't that bad in 2008.... the problem was that he just wasn't that good either. while he wouldn't go out and lose you m/any games, he wouldn't go out and win you m/any games either.

which makes it even more amazing that some people clung on to him as being this great white hope who would have allowed the team to save those two 1st round draft picks to blow on o/d-linemen and therefore have an overall better team that would have made up for the gap in quality between cutler and orton.

oh wait a minute.... that's right. orton went to denver where he had the "tactical advantage" with josh mcdaniels and they started off 5-0 and orton had better #s than cutler because he could just spam 2/3 of his throws to marshall and then....... splat. and ever since those first ~5 games kyle orton has been kyle orton so the argument wasn't that orton was better than cutler as much as it was that the bears gave up way too much to get a franchise-QB-in-name-only.

i was a rex guy and now i'm a jay guy.... and even tho we've won as much super bowls as the Orton/McCown side of the fanbase schism, still, i sleep easy at night knowing that my side was is and always will be right for giving the keys to the offense to jay cutler.... cuz mark my words this guy is gonna win a superbowl b4 he retires; it better be in chicago!

he might be a proper douchebag/Caller Bob, but he's OUR proper douchebag/Caller Bob dammit.
