It appears Brenly is about to become a Brewer.

Hmmm...I'm not so sure about that. Besides, Bob Brenly's got MLB playoff duty starting tomorrow. He'll join "Uncle" Dick Stockton & field reporter David Aldridge at AT&T Park in San Francisco for Turner/TBS Sports' call when the Braves & Giants start their National League Division Series.

Craig Counsell and Augie Ojeda are guaranteed to make another major league roster because of this move.

While we are on the subject SHARK you should lay off calling everyone your "Uncle" it gives off a creepy pantsless in a van by a playground vibe

To me it gives off a old secret agent vibe:

According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves will name Fredi Gonzalez as manager on Thursday.

Duh.

The Mariners have decided to hire Eric Wedge as their next manager.

Wedgey will have his hands full with this squad but the M's have a history of high payrolls so a couple shrewd moves by Jack Z can turn things around a little quicker. They have one of the best pitchers in the game and a few interesting young players (Smoak, Ackley, Saunders) to build around.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Cardinals have officially announced that Tony La Russa will return as manager next season.

I hope Colby Rasmus has his bags packed.

The Blue Jays hired John Farrell as manager.

Very good hire for the Jays. Toronto has a bunch of good young pitchers who will benefit for Farrell's expertise and taking him away from a division rival is an added benefit. Farrell joins Bud Black as former pitching coaches turned managers.

I heard a report saying Joey Cora is a finalist for the Brewers spot does that mean that the Brenly deal isn't finalized yet or is this just like a Rooney rule type of thing?

I read a report that the 4 finalists for the job are Bob Melvin, Tim Wallach, Ron Roenicke and Joey Cora. I don't think Brenly ever got an interview.

I don't think there is such a "Rooney Rule" in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball, Phil. You are correct about Joey Cora being a finalist for the Brewers' managerial job though. Don't get too excited. The perceived front runner isn't Cora or Bob Brenly, but another guy named Bob. That Bob is Bob Melvin, who I could've sworn recently got his walking papers in Arizona...

That makes me happy. I didn't want Brenly leaving the Cubs booth.

The Mets will hire Sandy Alderson as general manager

Alderson is one of the most respected baseball executives in the game and should turn around the Mets in short order. Whatever happened to the rumors about Ricketts hiring Alderson to replace Crane Kenny? I guess he didn't want to breakup the 3 ring circus.

It's my understanding from people here that to afford Alderson, the Cubs would have to release Soriano and eat his entire contract.

How much did they think they had to pay him?? I have to assume Kenny Crane is making a decent buck.

That would have made too much sense.

The Pirates agreed to a three-year contract with Clint Hurdle to become their next manager.

Have fun with that, Clint.
