God damn did this sneak up on me. I haven't been watching much Comedy Central lately though where there are probably lots of promos for it. Anyways, its almost South Park season and South park season is one of the best seasons in all the world.

The new episode is all about being poor and stupid and NASCAR. This has serious potential.

someone went on a 4chan board and claimed their friend worked at comedy central and went with dispensing the rumors and gossip about south park and the daily show.

on the south park front, they say that parker/smith really went to war with the tomcruise/mohammed (peace be upon him) episode, in that it was pitched as an extended riff on tom cruise and oprah and given the nature of southpark and its production time they kind of blindsided comedy central with the whole mohammed angle. i think the first part couldn't be fully censored, whereas the second could... and i don't think either of them can be viewed on the southparkstudios.com online archive (which, btw, is the lord's work) and they might not be able to go on the dvd.

suffice to say this really has parker/stone butthurt and there's a lot of talk taht it's looking like this could be the last season of south park, which would be a shame. supposedly comedy central's countermeasures would be to try and pay parker bigtime to develop a new show should they lose one of their flagship shows in southpark.

as for the daily show stuff, it's ho-hum... rob riggle was bi and had a thing with an intern, jon oliver is john stewart's pet and his ego has gone through teh roof. stewart wanted to keep corddry so bad he offered him a co-anchor position telling him that sitcom he was leaving for was shit (although i think he was great in hot tub time machine) and um, colbert hates lewis black because at one point lewis black made some sort of a joke about dying in a plane crash and stephen colbert's dad and older brother died in a plane crash.

oh and everyone hated mo rocca, but he was carrell's pet... oh and they're trying to get carrell to work teh indecision 2010 desk alongside stewart and colbert.

That would really suck if this were the last year. They can't lose South Park over this. Something will be worked out. This is already the 2nd half of the season so if this guy is right then only 6 more? I don't buy it.

The time is nearing. Don't forget to set your DVR's if you plan on watching the Twins.

Aside from the press conference and the in car conversation between cartman and butters it wasn't very good.

They only had one joke. NASCAR fans are "poor and stupid" and, while that was funny the first time, by the time they made that same joke the 35th and 36th time, it had lost something.

I haven't watched South Park in 10 years but, if that's what they are doing now, they should have shut it down years ago when they actually could make some observational humor.

NASCAR is ripe to be roasted and they just didn't bother.

I was really hoping the nascar angle only lasted 1 minute and then they moved onto mocking the redneck love for palin, reardon and the tea party, but they did not.

well as i said, southpark has a remarkably short turnaround time from production to airing and parker/stone are about done with comedy central... maybe they'll mail in 6 episodes and call it a career.

i think they had a chance to redeem themselves when the actual drivers were speaking intelligently about the tracks and what they had to do to accommodate with the weather, and just show cartman to be the ignorant one...but it never went anywhere. it was a very lazy episode.

there has been a lot of that so far this season with the comedy shows. i thought the writer's strike was over.

You completely missed the point. The jokes weren't directed at the Nascar fans, but it was making fun of those who paint with a broad brush that Nascar fans are all "poor and stupid".

No, I think I got it. I just thought they could have explored that a bit more or contrasted it with something like they started to do with the press conference.

It looks like they might be back on track tonight. The preview shows South Park getting invaded by New Jersey and its shore residents.
