Agreed. But no one tell Darko that the best part of a Dead concert was the parking lot ;)

I made a lot of money and friends in the parking lot of Dead shows.
Got a beeger for a balloon. Fair trade.

Never paid for a Dead show, never had a real intention to go. But on three occaisions I passed the parking lots either the day before(Atl.) or early the day of(Chi.), had a ball early and late, but really didn't enjoy the shows.

But I love the Dead (for touring).

No, I was the "special" one in the group when that happened. For about an hour I was blooted. Roasted. But then "it happened".

Sad day.

The word around campus spread and prices spiked shortly thereafter ;)

So, were you going to offer a link or a citation? I don't feel like doing your homework. In "my world" when you state a fact and somebody calls you on it, it's the burden of the presenter to show their work, so to speak.

I will also say that, in my reading, your original post seemed to indicate that there was or there should have been a court case; I took it to mean the latter.

In any event, you're free to go fuck yourself any time. Before you get down to it, however, I'd like to see some info to back up your statement - essentially so that I learn something new, dickweed.

In my opinion, the Beatles were the single most influential band in the history of music & their arrival on the music scene was a musical phenomena unmatched by any other...and no one else was close.
Lennon & McCartney or Jagger & Richards? Give me a break.

Qualify it as "rock" band, and you might have yourself something there.

I never cared for the Stones...ever.
I'd take the Beatles over the Stones any day....hell, I'd rather listen to Kiss or the Beach Boys than the Stones.

The statement "they only toured for 4 years" is factually incorrect as well. They "toured" in Europe prior to their first album...

In my opinion, music didn't even exist until the Beatles came along. In fact, all "music" was at that point was atonal grunting and percussion. There, I think I topped the stupidity of your statement.

Doug, do you think Celine or Yanni have inspired anyone to start a band? I don't think there would be a KISS- at least as we know them- without the Stones.

You can say the same thing about rock music as you can about sports. It's not really that important. Except it is important to a lot of people. To me John Lennon is just a pop musician, and not one I care for very much. But he's way more than that to a lot of people. That's why his picture has been on the front page of a profitable web destination like Google for the past two days.

I don't think there would have been a Kiss if it wasn't for Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls...but what do I know?

Wait...you don't think that Yanni or Celine Dion have influenced people to start bands or become musicians? What about Robert Johnson or Bach? That's absurd...

John Lennon being influential as an individual artist to people post The Beatles is another discussion.

Yeah, and there wouldn't have been a Cooper or Dolls without the Stones coming first.

I don't know if Yanni has influenced anyone to start a band. No one I know. And someone like Celine may make people want to sing but you have to be able to sing. That's not something everyone can do. That's the beauty of rock. It's not about playing the best guitar or even hitting the right notes. It's about feel and attitude.

I'm sure Robert Johnson and Bach inspired people to play. They're not Yanni though.

Don Henley inspired me to stare longingly into cameras while grainy black-and-white videos of shirtless men doing jumping jacks on a beach play behind me...

Kiss is more Led Zep than Stones...although Paul Stanley's burrito dancing is likely a Stones influence.

and Robert Johnson invented blues guitar...so, there wouldn't be any rock if it wasn't for him.

Nobody I know was inspired to start a band because of the Stones or The Beatles. Most people I know started bands because of late 80s and early 90s music. you're right...not everyone can sing. Mick Jagger is evidence of that. :P

Thanks for putting it so bluntly. Rock music isn't about talent or ability or the music whatsoever. It's about posturing and look. Sums it up pretty well.

The problem is they've influenced most of those millions to seriously consider suicide ...

The Stone Temple Pilot also lifted mightily from the classic rock and roll bands. Zeppelin and the Stones in particular. Not the Beatles though. Hmm....

Listen to Bi-Polar Bear or A Song For Sleeping on STP's Shangri La Dee Da album and tell me it doesn't sound like The Beatles.

I really don't care for either of them. I prefer the who and the beach boys over both of them.
