I don't mind hurting his pipsqueak feelings.
I don't see where everyone, and seemingly the Bears' coaching staff included, has gotten the impression that Rex's psyche is so fragile. Prior to this year he's had his toughness and durability continually questioned, been booed off the field in both preseason and regular season games, and had his overall skill level as a quarterback questioned, as well as why he was "handed" the job. Which is where I think a lot of the general Rex-angst stems from. For whatever reason, some fans expect Rex to perform flawlessly and to not have ups and downs simply because the job has been his to lose, and
dis is a blue collar kinda town dat doesn't like it when people don't earn it, knowwutimean?
So what has Rex done with all of this? He's worked his way back from two season ending injuries. With the exception of after the Minnesota game, he has stood in front of the media and said pretty much all the right things, and come across as confident in his abilities. And he should be, after delivering the second-best season a Bears QB has ever had in his first full season of action. To me, that's not indicative of someone with a fragile psyche.
