So you honestly believe Tommie is earning more of his paycheck than Peppers? Then you are an idiot. Plus Chris Williams should really be paying the Bears for how much he sucks.

Guys, I'm starting to think Chris Williams is bad at football, whether he's at tackle or at guard.

What does Peppers need to do, have 2 or 3 sacks, and an INT Every game? He was not good against Seattle. He was ok yesterday. He was an absolute beast before then. If he is banged up at all, he has 2 weeks to rest up. What the fuck more do you want out of him? And don't say he isn't worth the money because every star in the NFL is overpaid.

You tell me Kirko, what makes Peppers a "huge dissapointment thus far?" Answer that. Address BrYan's and Dr Ken's posts as well. And don't say sacks. You have already made it clear that you (wrongly) believe that he doesn't have enough. Give us some other concrete examples of why he is dissapointing in your mind.

Peppers has been an average player thus far for the Bears. He wasn't even double teamed in the last 2 games & was dominated. Are you really happy with his performance & results so far this season? Is he a $10 million player? If you watch Peppers for any extended period of time during a game it isn't hard to see that he is an average pllayer who got paid & appears to not give a shit 50% of the time.
What do you see from Peppers that you like? What is he doing that's good?
He's a huge waste of $40 million guaranteed, especially on this team of suckage.

Give some examples Kirk. Answer my questions and then I will answer yours.

I have given you examples & the reasons why I think Peppers has been bad. If you watch the games & compare stats, there is no way that you can claim that Peppers is good.
I would say that yours is the dissenting opinion that needs to be validated.
I'm not sure what you see that you love about Peppers but you should probably raise your expectations.

Just a few posts up in this thread:
Quote:
"There are clips on tape versus the [New York] Giants where Eli [Manning] looks like he has a pocket, Peppers is about five yards away from him, and he reaches over and strips the ball. The quarterback has got to keep stepping up. The tackles just can't finish. They have to keep pushing him up the field."

Sack, Int against Carolina. Multiple times in the backfield against GB. He was held a number of times because he was playing so well and that helped the Bears a ton. His sack knocked Stafford out of the game in week 1.

Thats just off the top of my head. If I went back at looked at the stats I could likely come up with bunch more. I think the opinion here is that you once again don't know what in the hell you are talking about. If you think Peppers is a dissapointment, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Again, thats just off the top of my head as I spend 2 minutes thinking. You want to give a few examples as to why he was bad? CONCRETE examples and not just "watch the games he sucks" like you have been saying.

Now, thats not to say that this signing could end up being bad. But so far overall, Peppers has been very good. He's a shoe in for the Pro Bowl at this point.

Head, thru the first 5 games, people were salivating at the mouth over Peppers and his dominant play this year.

You must not be paying attention.

Seriously, you come off as knowing nothing about football.

What stats do you look at other than Sacks?

If you throw in every time the offense has jumped offsides when he's on them as a quasi-5-yard sack, you could probably tack on another 8 or 10 sacks through 7 games, probably 5 in the Green Bay game alone.

He was. Peppers is a luxury a team with this many offensive liabilities cannot afford. But at least he can play.

The bigger problem is the money wasted on Taylor and Manushouldntbepaying.

Why spend the money on Matt Forte insurance? Matt Forte isn't good enough for insurance.

When my dishwasher breaks, I buy a new one. I don't buy another dishwasher and keep it around in the garage just in case I need it and throw a plate in there every couple weeks.

If they weren't sure about Forte, they should have just cut him loose, signed Taylor, and moved on. Or, at least do what I hope they'll do now, which is play Taylor and throw Forte in a few times to give him a rest.

Doc, I'm starting to wonder why the Bears even signed Chester Taylor & that tight end that the Grobber can't pronounce if they're not going to be used...

Scorehead, wouldn't it be something if the Broncos' Kyle Orton ends up going to the Pro Bowl, and not Cutler?

Didn't you post earlier today that you didn't watch the game?
Seriously...how can anyone who watches the Bears & has any football acumen think that Peppers is "playing well"??? What exactly is he doing well??? When I isolate on him for a series or 2 I see a guy who doesn't seem to give a shit, can't play the run to save his life, isn't getting close to the QB, & is getting beat. $10 million for that???
9 tackles, 4 assists, & 2 sacks is a horrible ROI of $10 million.

After an Idonije sack (or pressure) yesterday,Aikman mentioned how Peppers was the reason for that. Only problem was Peppers wasn't on the field at that time.

Jimmy, even when Peppers is on the bench he helps his team-mates get sacks.

Thats funny. So you dont know how to watch football. Got it.

Are you insane? He's been an absolute MONSTER against the run. No one has been able to run on the Bears all year.

Im starting to think you havent watched any Bears games all year.

Scorehead wrote:

NFL coach Mike Shannahan (who youve previously textually sucked off on this site) says the EXACT OPPOSITE of that in this thread.

You have absolutely no football acumen. You say "football acumen" a lot, but you have none.

Do you two think its impossible that Peppers would get in a O linesmans head?

Wow.

Kirk, nobody here is talking about Olsen or Cutler except you. You are also the only one saying that Peppers has been a dissapointment. He hasn't been. That is fact. His play and his stats back that up. His teammates stats back that up. You are wrong and regardless of if you admit it or not, you look quite foolish. But thats about the norm for you around here anyway.

I have been impressed with Mat Toenia (DT). He was running from sideline to sideline stopping
running plays. He is a "lunchpail" guy. I'm just kidding, that usually means he blows, but I DO see him getting a push. I also noticed the line doing a lot of stunts on Sunday.

Update: Peppers has 11 tackles, 5 assists & 2 sacks including yesterdays game.

Peppers stats are terrible & his play has been average. 1.5 tackles & .28 sacks per game is bad.
There are 71 DL in the NFL with more tackles than Peppers.
There are 60 DL in the NFL with more assisted tackles than Peppers.
There are 33 DL in the NFL with more sacks than Peppers.

Take off your Bears jersey & put down the kool aid.

He also leads all NFL defensive linemen in passes defended with 5.

So, in 7 games, he forced fumbles, intercepted passes, dropped back in coverage, put at least 1 QB out of the game, grabbed a couple sacks, and caused countless offsides penalties all the while opening up opportunities for Idonije, Urlacher, and crew.

Is he a luxury, Jerry Angelo? Yes.

Has he been effective? Yes.

19 tackles would have Peppers 14th amongst DL thus far this YTD, not 3rd.
My original unedited post says 9 tackles, not 19 though...

Yeah. Shame on rpb for actually comparing stats for the position that Peppers plays.

Compare him to defensive ends, and leave the tackles out of it.
