Gruden himself acknowledges that his system is complicated...but it is no more complicated that Martzs system. Gruden is a very good QB coach & would be a good coach for Cutler.
Gruden would be a huge upgrade from Lovie & the fans would love him.

I was on board with Gruden for a while but now I'm not so sure. I do think Angelo screwed him as he has screwed us.

Even though gruden comes off as a fan/media friendly guy with his new gig, I was in Tampa for the week leading up to him getting axed and the media and fans were livid about him.

What did they say?

I think he got lucky playing the Raiders. He's never really developed anybody either.

gruden won that superbowl, admitting that he knew callahan was still using his playbook.

he had a group of promising quarterbacks that aren't worth a damn. i think he's highly overrated as a coach. he didn't develop jack shit down in tampa after the superbowl.

Gruden didn't develop jack shit before the superbowl either. That was still Dungy's team buying into Gruden's new motivational bs....for the moment.

The Bears are starving for "motivational BS" after 7 years of Lovie.

No, I think you have that confused with the fact that Bears Fans are starving for motivational BS from the (next 'Chicago tough') "Coatch".

Leslie Frazier's name gets tossed around every time a new
coaching spot opens up. He'd be worth an interview, although
I admit not knowing much about his coaching philosophies. As
a former Bear, he'd be an intriguing hire.

Unless Angelo goes along with Lovie, it's not going to matter.

I'd like to see if there would be any chance of getting Cowher, Jeff Fisher or Tom Coughlin.

Coughlin also has that bad habit of tilting his head and dropping his jaw. Stop that! Also, I'd rather not have the Costco Penalty Yards By The Metric Ton plan that you get with a Coughlin team. "Discipline" my ass.

In my opinion, the Bears need more than just a new head coach & General Manager. Truth be told, the McCaskeys should be in the market for a "Football Czar" to oversee the whole operation up there in Lake Forest. Truth be told, this franchise continues to swing & miss on draft picks, plus I've heard enough of Lovie Smith & Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz's holier than thou attitudes!

That being said, I know that The SCORE's Hub Arkush, also the editor/publisher of Pro Football Weekly, mentioned something last year on "Boers & Bernstein" about the Bears at least gaging interest in Bill Cowher, long before that embarrassment of a press conference after the Bears finished 7-9 & watching the playoffs at home like you & me. Unfortunately, Arkush's sources now seem to think that with a lockout threat increasing by the day, we may be stuck with Lovie & G.M. Jerry Angelo for 1 more season. The point is...the Bears don't want to fire someone and pay someone else who won't be coaching if a lockout becomes a reality.

No. No more rookie head coaches who were DC's.

Darn...I forgot to include Fisher on my list. I am big fan of his. I also like Tom Coughlin a lot, but I want a young coach.

I predict.... if they make a coaching change they wil hire some "hot" assistant. The Bears have NEVER hired a coach with experience. They also have not gotten the "best available" guy for the past 2 searches. Jaroun was out of nowhere after the McGinnis mess and Lovie was at best second to Nick Saban in 2003. Wannie on the other hand was the experts "best available" back in 1992. Even if Lovie gets fired, they still have to pay him. So, to get one of the better candidates, they would have to pay Lovie his cash and the new guy big bucks....aint going to happen. If the next coach is hired this winter, it will be on the cheap, in part because its the Bears and in part because of the labor situation. Also...I would expect there to be some other high profile/good jobs open--Cowboys, Chargers, Vikings just to name a few.

The other night on the NFL NEtwork Jason Laconfora was asked to discuss the teams who have coaches on the bubble, & he said that Bill Cowher has told people that he loves Chicago & that he may be the Bears first choice.
He also mentioned SF could be a good fit for Gruden since he coached across the bay in Oakland & is well likes there.
