Ranger bullpen suckfest is the story of this series so far.

Ron Washington = Jim Leyland = Jim Caldwell

They should let Ozzie Guillen take over managing the Rangers for the duration of
the series. The Rangers look like someone shot their dog; have since Washington
made the stupendously bad decision to pull Cliff Lee with the score 5-2, and
then go on to lose that game 11-7. And then sit his best post-season hitter for
almost all of game 2. Ozzie even called Washington out on sitting Vlad in the
pre-game.

Happy to see the goofball Giants marching toward their first post-NY
championship, but find it idiotic that crackheads like Leyland and Washington
are allowed to manage MLB teams while Ryne Sandberg takes a back seat to the kid
from Powder all-grown-up.

WTF? Not only do the Giants have a gay ass playoff song but its the same song the sox used just a few years ago. This song should be sent into orbit where it can never return.

Washington is trying to fuck this game up but O'Day bailed him out. He left Lewis in too long and didn't have Feliz ready in time to get a HUGE out.

Big win by the Rangers. I haven't heard if they are planning on throwing Lee tomorrow on 3 days rest but I sure would. I think they have to follow this win up with your ace to even up the series.

i would think that you'd do lee on three days west because not only would you set him up for tomorrow's game, but you'd also set him up for another start in game 7 i believe on short rest. if you wait and start him in game 5, short of an inning or two of work-day-relief, forgetaboutit.

granted, many people fault charlie manuel for not starting cliff lee on three days rest last world series and even tho he won his two games, those were the only two games philly won. i think the last cliff lee expedition was law of averages so like, yeah, roll the dice. set him up for 1, 4, 7 (if nec) and let tommy hunter eat a few bags of chips on his newfound day-off.

that is, unless you have an all-time manager's hunch that says "i need two proper starts by my ace, instead of three with one being too long rest and two $hort rest)

My guy H.W. is looking pretty good for an 86 yr old ex President. I still can't believe Washington isn't going with Lee tonight.

i'm hoping the rangers decide "you know what? we can get a few hits off of cy bumgarner" because this whole series it's just felt like the rangers don't really have much for the pitchers the giants are throwing out there. huff crushed a 2 run shot off of his girthness, tommy hunter, but it's almost to the point where an early 2 run defecit feels like meh.

hey vlad, how about a giant postseason homerun? that'd be nice... the vladometer is sub .143 for the series...

wow. i don't think i've ever seen vlad strike out three times in a game (he's never topped 100k for a season), let alone the last two where he was absolutely fucking owned. hats off to bumgarner here, the kid was listed as a future staff ace and a top pitching prospect in all of baseball and like, damn, he's categorically disemboweled my favorite player three times in a row tonight. call it a hunch i'm going to keep an eye out for him for my fantasy empire next year (even tho i was up on him this year as well =)

this is becoming a straightup beatdown. who knows tho? maybe cliff lee has another gem up his ass the rangers take it back to san fran and it becomes a series of legend and lore... or maybe playoff beard by cracky has some epic fail in him?

"that's why you watch" as painful as it might be. btw cody ross has stolen shaq's old shaved head beard thingy. yeesh.

it doesn't look good. even if the rangers can somehow win a lee/lincecum redeux tomorrow, i don't see them getting past matt cain with cj wilson. it it makes it to game 7, total crapshoot they have the momentum back and they're slated to have colby lewis opposing jonathan sanchez. that's the definition of a total crapshoot right there if it comes down to that matchup for game 7.

i really thought lee would start early today in place of hunter so if it went well you could feasibly use him again in game 7, but i'm thinking the prevaling strategy was that you wanted no part of tommy hunter against lincecum, or having to move up cj wilson and colby lewis to avoid tommy hunter facing lincecum or cain.

bumgarner: 8 IP 3H 2BB 6K with 106 pitches... do you trot him out for the 9th, figuring this to be his last playoff start barring some sort of "work day" emergency which i can't possibly foresee? i mean you figure bumgarner as the 4 and as a 21 year old kid who is spinning a shutout in the world series would be shut down and told he did a nice job.... you don't risk using him for even an inning or two in a game 7 if you think it might fuck up his career, i would figure.

just don't let dusty show up and give russ ortiz the game ball and the giants should be OK. thank god dusty and barry didn't get that, it was literally divine intervention from the angels.

This Giants team might be the shittiest to win a World Series since the Cardinals, a few years ago.

Actually, they probably have the best pitching of any team that has won a World Series since the Braves in 1995.

+1

Their pitching is unreal. Basically the equivalent of when the Ravens won the Super Bowl.

Fun Stats about this 'shitty' team:

• These Giants have now thrown four shutouts in this postseason -- tying them with the 1998 Yankees and the 1905 New York Giants for the most in a single postseason.

• This team also has now spun two shutouts in the first four games of this World Series -- making it the first staff with more than one shutout in the same World Series in nearly a half-century, since the Orioles fired three of them against the Dodgers in 1966.

• Bumgarner's masterpiece represented the fourth time a Giants starter has thrown at least seven shutout innings while allowing no more than four hits in this postseason. (Cain has done it twice, with Lincecum and Bumgarner doing it once apiece.) And no team has ever done that before. The old record was three starts like that -- by the 2001 Diamondbacks of Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson, and the 1999 Yankees (with Orlando Hernandez, David Cone and Roger Clemens doing those honors).

• And, finally, in 14 October starts, this rotation has a combined ERA of 2.44. And we remind you that all four starters have come whooshing straight out of the Giants' farm system. If this team wins the World Series, the Elias Sports Bureau reports that group will form the first homegrown four-man rotation to win it all since the 1983 Orioles (Scott McGregor, Mike Boddicker, Mike Flanagan, Storm Davis).

Crazy.

Their pitching is great, I have always liked it, but the lineup is bad. They have Uribe batting 5th tonight, thats not good, and Rowand in the lineup.
