Which means there will be some discussion of games that were actually interesting yesterday.

Also, probably some hockey talk as well as some discussion of Da Boo.

And maybe Mac will be happy to tell everyone why he spent his day off on the board.

I predict a new song today or maybe some over the top praise for meat to counter some of the meat hate in last weeks threads. I actually have the score fired up on the computer today so I will start listening until something inevitably makes me pull the plug.

Just remember, if there is a Bears Report with everyone's favorite ginger, the Not Interested sign will go up (unless I'm outside smoking)

This pairing is incredibly listenable.

Yup, meatpants needs to take more days off. I like this even though they are talking about Jackass.

Goff doesn't sound like he's trying to yell over Vandy. It's nice when it's just these two.

HEY MITCH

I think these two would be a better permanent pair than Mac and Meat. Meat and Larry would be much better served to fill in for Maya Gavin.

I'd like to listen to Mac + Vandy - Goff and see how that is.

What is the deal with vandy? there's like 50 guys that deserve it/are better than Vandy at ANY GIVEN time!

We've heard this before. It's Vandy sucking off Mac just like Meatpants tends to do.

deserve it how? better how? and who, name 3.

I disagree sj. I see the opposite.

I can see the argument for Goff maybe but I think he kisses Mac's ass too much for them to have a consitently good show. Sorry but I think Mac needs a "friend"/peer not subordinate as a cohost because they are they only people that can tell him to STFU when he gets tangentey. His friends engage him and keep him in check. Jurko did it on MJH.

Mac and Goff seem to have a fairly comfortable relationship. There isn't the uncomfortable "Look what I can do, daddy" vibe that seems to be there when Vandy is in with them (this is the same feeling I get when I hear Laurence in with Dan or Terry). It's because he (Goff) is trying to be heard over two friends. The three man weave with Mac is generally uncomfortable (going back to MJH) because it's 2 on 1 for the most part (just like MJH).

IMO, Mac needs a younger voice, like Goff. I even like it when Laurence is sitting in for Meat, because neither of them seem to be afraid of calling Mac out for acting like a cranky old man when he starts.

for co-hosting duties? Immediately off the top of my head are:

Meatpants (rightfully ahead of VANDY the DANDY)
Goff
Rozner
Rosie
Finfer

These guys are all better, much much better, and they've paid their dues.

Just from the Score talent pool if you expand it you need to add J Hood

Roz and Rosie are completely unlistenable and meatpants is terrible with Mac. Finfer is okay for a weekend show and Goff still has the going up against issues. your whole list is fail to me.

What are these dues? List them. And if they've paid their dues and still don't have a show then maybe they don't deserve one. Maybe they need to be better. Promote the dude that's been there the longest rather than the one that works hard, is smart, or has talent is a stupid stupid theory. And, How do you guys know Vandy has not paid his dues?

They're unlistenable because they know their sports? And even though Meat is terrible with mac he is no where near as terrible as Vandy is. I don't believe you're being objective here. You like vandy. You've met vandy. Maybe you're a little star struck or something.
But my general response to all things Vandy is "Who the hell is Vandy?).
How do we know he hasn't paid his dues... How much time has he put in at the station?

Hell, I drank with Vandy at Macapalooza, and I didn't even realize it was Vandy.

Tell you what man,
Elmhurst Steve has put more into the shows than VANDY ever did.

This is true, but Vandy has his own weekly segment and theme song.

I would rather ES gets a weekly segment and theme song. I'm thinking "Math with Elmhurst Steve" and "Dixie" as his theme song.

You like Rozner and Rosie really?

I've met Vandy twice but always liked him on the radio. It has nothing to do with liking him or not because I don't know him well at all. In fact I know you better and like you but I don't think you belong on the radio. He does.

I do actually. I listen to Rosies show on Saturday mornings during my migration to the south for rehearsals. His new partner sucks huge but Rosie is fun. He knows what he's talking about. Yeah, and I like Roz too. Same reasons pretty much.
And I'm not auditioning for radio. You couldn't handle it if I was. You'd be all like "I KNOW HIM!" and would love my show and turn up to all my remotes and be in the front row screaming with Doug if we played a show at our first non-suckaversary at Nellies and we'd blow joints out in the parking lot.

It's pretty clear that you just love Vandy because of personal feelings. No matter how much you deny it I will refuse to change this stance.

Can't help you with your bad taste in radio but that last part is freaking hilarious because it is so me.

I like Rosie quite a bit. His show with Baum was great and the show with Paruch was good too.
Finfer is good on the radio. He did an early morning show two Saturdays ago. Rozner is an easy listen.
Goff and Mac is a good pairing. I'm just not a fan of a three man booth in the middays. There should just be one fill-in regardless of who it is...

From what little I heard on my way downtown this morning, it seemed to me that Jason was overtalking Mac a lot. But Mac seemed willing to let him drive the show, just as he often let's Spiegel do. With MJH, there was never any question who the main guy was. If I didn't know who these guys were, I would have thought it was Jason's show just from listening this morning.

Anyway, I think Spaulding's question opens up a better discussion than just whether Vandy has "paid dues". Is "paying dues" necessary for a guy to do a good radio show? I'm sure insiders would think Spaulding's stance diminishes their craft. But I don't know if I agree with that. Did Mike North "pay dues"? He was certainly quite popular for a long time. And Fritzy is just a guy's friend like Vandy (though I'd suggest about a million times more interesting), and I always considered him a good listen.
