I liked Speigs and Goff as well. It's just the combination of Mac and Speigs that make it a hard listen.

Yeah, if it was actually good. But not knowing about Harlon Hill is no excuse for declaring someone else the best Bears receiver ever. Frank Thomas is the greatest White Sox player. I believe he played after 1985.

Ok. I was honestly curious. Every time I saw you mention a player you liked, it seemed like it was someone who played before the Berlin Wall came down.

When I'm measuring greatness I try to be honest about it. I think Public Enemy is as great as The Who, maybe greater by some measures. There's room for argument on certain things but there's also room to be wrong. If you say Sammy Sosa was the greatest Cub and RPB says Ernie Banks was, you've got an argument. If some other guy says Al Heist was the greatest Cub, you've got an idiot. My grandfather would have told you Man O' War was the best thoroughbred that ever lived. My dad would have said it was Citation. If you ask me, it's Secretariat. I don't think any of us is necessarily right or wrong. But a guy who says Giacomo was the greatest is just wrong. People should be able to recognize the difference between their personal favorites and true greatness. Sometimes they might be the same thing. Often they aren't. I loved Bob Coluccio. I'm not going to tell you he was great.

JORR, I thought it was Harlon Hill or Johnny Morris myself...Because I'm in my mid to late 30s, I wasn't born when Harlon and Johnny sported the Bears' navy & orange and can only believe what Mac & his mentor Chet Coppock have said. Needless to say, you don't exactly mention Bears and "Greatest Receivers" in the same sentence...

True enough. And I know Mac knows who Harlon Hill is. It just wasn't coming to him in the conversation. I just think there are too many fans who want to dismiss things as "before my time". Part of being a fan is learning the history of the games and knowing where the players fit.

I mentioned Hill right out of the shoot, Joe Orr Road. Even gave his college (Michigan). I know my Bears history, Mr. Man.

I must have missed that. Anyway, I know Jason's larger point was that the Bears really haven't had any great receivers throughout their long history. Of course that's correct. And I don't question your Bears bonafides. You're like some kind of savant with those uniform numbers. I'm sure you know George Farmer was good 'ol number 43. But I don't think Hill was a Michigan man. Didn't he come from some small college in Alabama?
