Simple. He just eats alot of food. Oh I'm sorry you meant what happened to him at the Score. Pappy ego got inflated and he wanted to do a solo show. Management agreed so they split them up and Mac and Boers as well. Pappy went on to fail. Jigs was paired with Mac and after Mac got fired Jigs moved to evening host and then they got rid of him.

Actually, I didn't have a problem when he was on with Buffone during afternoon drive. I didn't think he was actively bad, he was just...there.

I couldn't stand Jiggs or his "my friend" carebear attitude.

For many years, Jiggets and Buffone worked afternoons together (though, back then, the Score had a weird ass afternoon drive schedule... they were on 4-8p). Eventually, Jiggets went solo from 6:30 to 9p. His contract simply was not renewed.

I remember back after Mariotti was fired from ESPN 1000, that station had a bunch of on-air auditions for the new 9-noon slot. Jiggs was one of them, and for a while, it seemed he was actually going to get it. He filled in all the time on 1000, but never anymore. Nice guy, but somewhat boring on the air.

On the radio, him and James Brown (from CBS who also had a show on Sporting News Radio that 820 AM used to carry) are the same people - extremely nice people on the air, but it gets old listening to someone so calm, and extremely happy every day.

I also remember that North at one point made the comment the Jiggs was to much of a "homer" and had a hard time being critical of any team discussed. Honestly, Jiggs knows alot of people and he basically is sacrificing his career on tv and radio by not wanting to burn bridges, which in this profession is a necessity at times.

He made North a better on air guy, no doubt about that,

While Jigs may not have done all the preparation for the show, he is a smart guy and he knew enough about sports to stop North from talking out of his ass and wasn't afraid to put North in his place.

Since North left Jiggs his shows have been terrible. Laways some lap dogs fetching Mike a bone and shaking their heads

yes Mike, we agree Mike

I too think North was by far his best back in the days with Jiggs! Actually Jiggs was pretty tolerable as well. They seemed to play off each others personalities well. Pap would go off on a rant and Dan would give you the common sense side. On the other hand, I think North brought out a little fire and personality in Jigs.

I miss those days compared to the crap we hear now!

Don't forget to tell 'em YOUR NAME sent ya!!!

and then he goes on other cities radio stations and cries about not having a show, and the reason he can't have a show is because all the listeners are idiots. bored me to tears when he had evenings on the score and comes off as a moron to me on tv, harvard, ha

Pappy might of screwed him. But he was a horrible listen. Really knew nothing about all sports but football. Even with football he was just vanilla and recited cliches. He also had no idea of Chicago sports history. I remember him once asking is Toni Kukoc was on the first 3 Bulls titles to somebody on the air. Stuff like that bothers me. He was a horrible, boring listen. I rarely watch the TV show he does. But when I do he comes across as a stumbling idiot too.
