North has always attempted to ingratiate himself to the radio community. In a lot of ways, he is a fan that lucked into the business. I might be the same way had fortune struck me as it did him.

I look at North kind of like Jimmy the Gent from Goodfellas. He walks into the room and gives the bartender a $100 tip just for keeping the ice cold. Say what you want about his intentions, North is a giving guy.

I would say that he is a giving guy and back in the day he did it because he felt it was a good thing to do, but now it is just to keep his fading pub going. I have met North many times since the start and the guy has become a major ego maniac. His failures to him are not his fault and that should tell you everything you need to know about the guy.

I give 3000 to charitys every year, but I dont call stella and ask her to put in the paper, which he has done. Also, if I had a radio show, I wouldnt waste time telling people how giving I am, I dont need to convince people that I am a good person, for one, I dont care what people thing of me and when it comes to giving, it isnt about gaining attention, its the deed of doing good.

Sorry GD, I like your posts here and this isnt personal, but North is a prick and if you saw that side of him, I think your opinion might change.

I'm gonna give North the benefit of the doubt on this one. From what I can tell, the sports radio fraternity is pretty tight and you don't want to be excluded if you can help it. Sure, many hosts bash the others, but keeping good graces with everyone else in the media is probably a good idea. Maybe North really likes these guys (even if he has ever listened to their show or not). Even for WGN, ten years on the air is a pretty good accomplishment. Maybe Mike can appreciate that and offered congratulations off the air to avoid the appearance of throwing himself into it. He probably did not tell them to make sure they mention his name.
