Scotty Pods declined his option with the Dodgers. He's out there.

He must be getting some bad advice, didn't he hold out for a big contract a couple years ago and wound up going to KC for peanuts? Not sure how many teams will offer more than the $2mil he turned down, for a slappy, bad baserunning LF with average on base ability

Horrible advice for a guy who has to play a corner OF slot, had a poor SB percentage (I was to say he was thrown out in 30% of his attempts) and is a light hitter....maybe someone will give him the same, but I dont see it.

As Ken Harrelson might say..."No." You read it here first. Brent Morel will be your White Sox starting third baseman on Opening Day 2011. By the way, give Omar Vizquel #22 next year and give Morel #5.

What's scary is no Cubs listed, but that can change.

It's scary because basically the whole load of garbage from last year is under contract.

Lilly, Lee, Theriot, and Fontenot are all gone from the Cubs payroll.

Those 4 pieces were the least of the Cubs worries. Fontenot was trash, but was probably making pennies, along with Theriot.

I am not disagreeing but the fact is they are all off the books. Fukudome and Silva are gone after this year and I am not sure if ARAM has one or two years left. The problem which everyone realizes is that Hendry is still here so it doesn't matter. The Cubs aren't going to magically get better by spending more money on bad contracts.

The Cubs control all but 8 players. Of course, most of the 8 are the ones you want to shit can.

2011 would be Ram's last year assuming the Cubs don't pick up his option.

The Cubs will win their next championship on the big shoulders of Big Z. Todd Ricketts said today that it is just a matter of time. I feel much better.

Detroit re-signs Jhonny Peralta to play short for 2 years and $11mil. They are locked in the left side with Inge and Pheralta, this by no means precludes them from being a player for Crawford or VMart for big $$

I don't think it's a great idea to have Peralta as your everyday shortstop.

The state of AL SS is nowhere near what it was a few years ago. They conceivably could still bring in a guy (OCab? Uribe?) and slide Pheralta over to 2nd where his terrible range wouldn't be as glaring. Then again, they still have to play Guillen somewhere when he's on the field, and Sizemore is still there.

With that suck-ass pitching staff, it doesn't matter who their SS is.

Athletics acquired OF David DeJesus from the Royals for RHP Vin Mazzaro and LHP Justin Marks.

Nice trade for the Royals. Mazzaro is young (24) and has a really nice upside while DeJesus (31) is in the last year of his contract that pays him $6M. Not sure why Billy Beane wanted to trade for yet another outfielder.

The Royals continue their collection of some really nice young talent. But will it ever come together for them?

Just wait until Moustakas is ready, which may be next year. He is supposed to be the goods.

Any staff that starts with Verlander and Porcello has a chance to be okay. I don't think their pitching is particularly bad.

The Royals need to keep Greinke and build around him as the veteran leader. They had some money come off the books this year and if they spend it wisely they can turn things around fairly soon. If they trade Greinke this offseason it could set them back a few years if not longer. As a baseball fan I hope they keep him.

Me too Keyser. I would like to see the Royals have some good years.

Porcello was horrid last year. Scherzer had a decent year and is probably their number two. Valverde is a good closer. Zumaya can't stay healthy. Ryan Perry has some promise. Other than that, suck-ass.
