The record of teams that have beaten the Illini this year now goes to 22-1 I believe.

Wow. Purdue +16.5 vs. Illinois. The oddsmakers don't think this one will be close.

I expect that Purdue will put up a good fight in this one unless Rob Henry is definitely gone for the game and Sean Robinson is really bad.

There are really only two games left on the schedule for that 6th win. This one and Michigan at home. Win those, beat Indiana, and you get to go to Detroit. Who wouldn't be extra motivated for that?

Illinois will be going somewhere warm for this Bowl season. Shitty bowl, but warm weather.

He was.

Good job Illini. You've clearly turned it around quickly.

When teams take away that crossing pattern, he is going to struggle. But, he is definitely improving.

I liked seeing him keep it on the option and running more as well. I think those opportunities have been there the past few weeks but he keeps giving the inside handoff to Leshoure like he was scared to keep it or not reading it properly.

All good things recently with him. I'm hoping Jason Ford comes back soon.

I think Petrino should be coach... the guy seems like head coach material. But I'll tell you that Koenning has been the biggest surprise. That defense is amazing. The Illini look legit good.

This was the first time they've had back-to-back 30+ point conference victories since 1914.

Ron Zook went to the Bret Bielema school of coaching apparently.

The play-by-play guy wouldn't let his outrage go about Illinois throwing late in that game. But, I think we get a little leeway in developing a kid QB, having had our asses handed to us in-conference for the better part of a decade.

That said, I think they should have taken Scheelhaase out mid-way through the 4th quarter and gotten the other kid some work.

Zook should watch what Kirk Ferentz did after getting up 37+. I think Iowa ran the ball exclusively for most of the third and all of the 4th quarter.

At the end of the day, a one point win shows up the same in the records as a 31 point win against the number 5 team in the nation.

I think it was legitimately about getting the kid some work and not about running up the score.

The pass offense has been pretty anemic all year and they could use the work on routes and timing.

Well, I guess it was like playing against your number 2 defense.

I just hope they get a chance to run it up this week.

Well, now that Illinois' National Championship hopes have been dashed by what almost everyone in the world agrees is a questionable overtime method, HOOPS begins tonight.

Illinois begins the Road to Houston tonight against the Anteaters of Cal-Irvine. I will choose not to put too much stock in their uninspiring and narrow victories over 2 Division II schools in the Exhibition season and instead focus on the hype of a second stellar recruiting class to go with a stable of Seniors that will dominate the Big Ten in a ridiculously easy fashion.

The fun begins tonight on ESPN3.com. Tell your Grandpa to grab his mouse, do a quick Google search, maybe download an update to Microsoft Silverlight or whatever streaming media is being used, make sure to click the proper link so as not to end up watching Premier League Soccer, wait for the buffering to complete and enjoy some HOOPS.

Trying to ignore the pasting that Chicago's Big Ten football entry will shortly be putting on the Creamsicle kids?

Illini basketball should be bifurcated from the average footballers thread.

The 3rd best football team in the state of Illinois loses to the 1-9 Minnesota Gophers.
The Zookmiester has got to lose his job.

Did you miss the game where they beat NIU? Unless you have St. Xavier above them.

NIU should have won that game. At least they beat Minnesota the following week by 11. NIU is a much better prepared & coached team than Illinois. You stick with Zook though. Good luck with that.

Next time NIU has a game they should win, they might just as well go ahead and do it.

It counts for more.

Remember the point spread from today's home game before you post that next time.

I'm not claiming that Illinois should have won a game they lost.

Better prepared and coached? Likely

But they still couldn't beat the Zooker.

That's pretty convenient.

I believe the rest of the sports world would agree that Illinois should have won that game today. Again - favored by 21, at home, against a team that hadn't won a game in the conference. You really don't think they should have won that game?

Meanwhile, NIU has won 7 in a row. It'd be pretty tough to say they aren't a better football team at this point.

How's P.J. Fleck doing these days?

edit...my bad, what about Justin McCareins.....

Sam Hurd, he's still around.
