I have stated on here before, the Wisconsin game does not bother me. I am glad they got pounded and hope it gets Lynch gone sooner.

Irregardless of that game,Wisconsin's coach is still an ass. Explain it any way you like, but his reputation for being an ass is growing. I look forward to the day when one of the big dogs of the Big 10 or the nation put a ass whooping on them.

No complaint. But how you win affects your BCS ranking. The Badgers would prefer to have the highest ranking possible, IMO. While I'm all for conference pride, you don't tell your 3rd stringers to lay down to protect the conference. "IT'S DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!" Gotta play ball.

As for "laying down" there is a difference between running the ball and doing some throwing and going deep late in a game that's been over for a long time.

In reading your posts I sense that you believe that he did in fact run up the score and it's what he should have done.

Can Lynch Survive 83 points?

I’ve never been one to call for a coach’s job. I’m not starting now. I know that bothers some of you who are constantly on me to call for Bill Lynch‘s ouster as IU’s head coach. Sorry, but I’ve never seen that as my job. Our columnist handles the opinion side of things just fine. And if that’s not enough then the fan base, as displayed often in this blog space, fills that role just fine as well.

But the question still begs to be asked today: Can Bill Lynch survive Indiana’s 83-point debacle Saturday in Madison?

I know that Fred Glass is on the record as saying he wants to honor contracts. And I think that’s important. But 83 points? Yikes. I don’t know how coaches on solid ground survive 83 points.

Glass told me as he walked off the field Saturday that he will evaluate football at the end of the season the same way he evaluates all sports. As Rick Greenspan used to say, he didn’t want to get too high with the high’s or too low with the low’s. He wanted to evaluate the season as a complete body of work. I believe that to be Glass’s approach as well.

Here are the problems moving forward. If Glass was to make a change, the coach coming in is going to have a tough road his first couple of years. You look at next year and a lot of this offense could be gone. Ben Chappell will graduate as will Terrance Turner. The other top two receivers, Tandon Doss and Damarlo Belcher, could essentially declare for the NFL Draft. I’m not saying they will but they could. If the offense is that depleted, it’s going to be tough on whatever staff comes in. Especially considering a defense that was thought to have been making strides just gave up 83 points.

If Lynch comes back, he’ll be a lame duck coach trying to recruit without a contract extension. And the stories out there will focus on who the next coach will be. That would be a tough road for any coach as well.

So what will happen? Not sure. There’s still two games to be played and a lot of evaluation on the part of Glass. I know what the majority of people on this site would like to see happen, but what do you think Glass will actually do? That’s a question to ponder.

The coaches poll is an element of the BCS. Getting attention to the program helps that, for one.

You know what would help the Big Ten most? Purdue, Indiana and Minnesota not sucking at football.

So are you saying by scoring 83 points on Indiana that you will move up in the human polls over teams that also won? What if you had only scored 60? Would it have been different?
There is always going to be a team that doesn't win much in the Big Ten. If those three teams were good then three others would be the bottom three. I don't get your point.

I just wish you would have watched the game. Or listened to everyone else. The blame here really isn't on UW. It's on IU. Like I think it is, like their fans think is, like just about everyone thinks it is. When a 4th string slow QB I have never heard of scrambles for a TD, I just don't have an answer. You can't start kneeling with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.
