Big Mac- 23% (I think this low percentage tells me that he will never get in. Good)

Dawson and Rice didn't get in but I didn't hear the percentage.

Nobody has ever gotton 100% vote. The most ever was Tom Seaver with like 98.8%. I'm going to make a prediction. The first player ever to get 100% will be Greg Maddux. People love him. Nice guy who kept his mouth shut. Dominated for about a decade. Did it with more smarts then power. Clearly not on steroids.

Well Frank. Those guys aren't the most alarming not to get 100%. Nobody would say those guys are top 10 of all time. Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron didn't get 100%. Amazing. I just have a feeling Maddux will do it.

I have to really respect Jayson Stark's position on the HOF voting as stated on Mike & Mike

He says on the steroids you have to vote for nobody that played in that era or throw out all speculation and vote on what they did on the field. The only other option is to guess who was juiced and pick and choose who to penalize. The obvious people to take the heat are McGwire, Bonds, and Sosa. What about pitchers though? Nobody seems to care. I would have to say there's reasonable speculation that Clemens has taken something. I seriously doubt he will be punished. Stark also brings up Gaylord Perry. He boasted of his cheating and did not try to hide anying yet he got in the Hall.

I have to agree with Stark on this one.

I heard that too Falcon. What I didn't understand is, M&Ms position with Ledewski yesterday was complete indignation, when Stark was basically saying that you either have to vote for everybody or (and I don't know if he stated it explicitly) you don't vote for anybody.

Ledewski (sp?) didn't explain his position very well so I may have misunderstood it. But, I thought his point is that you can't vote for anybody unless something is done to expose what is/has gone on. It would seem to be the logical counterpoint to what Stark is saying. So, I'm not sure why Golic was so fried yesterday with the guy. It seems to be a logical protest.

I thought they were getting 2 points mixed up yesterday.

1 - Ledewski doesn't vote anybody on the first ballot (I agree, nonsensical) and
2 - Ledewski wasn't voting as a protest (which I understand)

Hmm, I didn't hear yesterday so I am confused as well. One thing is clear though and that is the voting for the Hall is stupid and makes no sense.

This is illustrated further by the other point Greeny brought up today about Lee Smith almost getting in and being ahead of Goose in previous ballots, then this year, the opposite has happened and Lee Smith fell way down. It just makes no sense. It just shows the voters have no conviction and change their mind on people at the drop of a hat, or kind of vote at random, or more likely the process is so damn political people are voting to make a statement instead.

The further away players get from the game, the more they fall out of favor. Voters are starting to forget Lee Smith. The reason Gossage went up in votes is all the talk after Sutter made it last year, that relievers will start to get their due. I heard more mentions of Gossage's name in the last week than in the last five years. Now he's a sympathetic figure. Smith needs to get himself in the Cubs booth like Santo & get back in the public eye.

Harold was my favorite player growing up, but he probably shouldn’t even be on the ballot. When you think of the guys that’ve been snubbed from the Hall over the years, there are plenty of guys far more worthy than Baines.

I like Stark's opinion on the topic as well.
His standard is not based on all time accomlishments but on a comparison to contemporaries of a given era.
Without stating it, he is casting his vote under the assumption that everyone was juiced, which in turn created an even playing field.
