I'm sick of our field looking like a cow pasture every December. Grass has never worked at Soldier Field. And for all of you guys who will cry "tradition and we don't want to play on carpet". Keep in mind Soldier Field was artificial turf from 1970-1987.

Every time Nas. Let's see he played in New England, New York, Minnesota, Detroit, and St. Louis this year. Came out fine. His two injuries had nothing to do with the Turf. When he broke his ankle it was because a large man landed on him. When he blew out his knee it's because he stretched for the end zone.

Injuries can occur because the Bears will be playing on mud with this field and won't be able to cut. If they could figure out a way to have a nice field I'd be fine with keeping it. Green Bay never seems to have the problems Soldier Field has for some reason.

The field is usually trashed by November. Having played on it, almost anything would be better than the dirt they're playing on now.

Grass, yes. Mud and green spray paint, no. Like I said I'd prefer grass if it could be maintained. But it's been about 20 years with grass at Soldier Field and it doesn't work. Killer V is right. It is actually Novermber when it starts to go bad and then it's just brutal by December.

Like I said Frank. We didn't roll that way at Soldier Field from 1970-1987. Payton was never hurt by the way. He played 13 years on artificial turf. And that old turf was absolute crap. It was cement with a think layer of carpet. This new stuff is safer.

I think they threw tradition out the window when they turned Soldier Field into a spaceship.

You won't blow out your knee on concrete? What? I think it's absolutly more likely then with the new stuff. If not why would the NFL switch to something that is worse. Of course this new stuff is better.

Now Payton didn't but that doesn't mean that stuff was better.

AS it was eluded to earlier in this thread... putting turf at Soldier Field is like putting a dome over Wrigley. And I hate Wrigley.

In all reality, I think the Bears should pick up the tab on this one, especially since they are the only ones who can control how much longer they will play on that field this year. The park district would porbably be more willing to pay for it the beginning of next year.

True, but why would they want to pay for a new field that might only be played on one more time this season? They'll want to wait until next year and make sure it gets used instead of sitting dormant for the next few months now.

You're right Nas. You'll blow BOTH of them out. Go ask Wendell Davis.

Well that's a little different. You play road games. Super Bowl is a neutral field. I'm glad the Bears have an out door stadium
